I live in a field surrounded by Tier 3 and Tier 4.

I am bored, there’s nothing to do l.

YABU = leave them up until 6 Jan and then have a mad panic

YANBU = take them down now and then clean the house from top to bottom, glaring at the family while they do sfa on their PS4 (not 5), switches and phones

I wa t to take mine down too. Everyone else wants them up until new year. Tier 4 here, off for a very muddy walk (again).

OP have you thought of taking up a new hobby? I'm only suggesting that as I don't think you would have thought of that over the last ten months.

BillLius · 27/12/2020 12:16

Why thank you, I have taken up the following hobbies this year:

Topiary
Scuba diving in my bath
Naturism
Trichorigami
Stylist to the stars, Jupiter and Mars were especially grateful
Mediation to achieve enlightenment, but I didn’t lose any weight so I gave it up

If it's only you that is fed up of them, I think it's a bit mean to take them down TBH.

I'm always surprised at the number of MNetters who gleefully report that they have "ripped them down" at the earliest possible moment - it's not a particularly nice memory for children to have, is it? In normal times, their kids must be wondering why their friends' houses are still full of lights and sparkle, but Scrooge Mum at home wants Christmas to be as short as possible.

RoseMartha · 27/12/2020 12:26

I usually take them down on 1st or 2nd Jan but have been known to take them down before new year.

Are you on your own? If i lived on my own and I wanted them down I would.
With the dc i would wait until the 1st.

I am going to secretly take down a little bit every 2 hours and see if anyone notices.

@BillLius

I am going to secretly take down a little bit every 2 hours and see if anyone notices.
Now that is a good idea. Please keep up updated - I am bored too clearly as I am a boring person.

I rather fear though, that it may be like my own "Will Anyone Notice" experiments such as if I don't clean the bathroom will anyone notice and clean it themselves? And if I don't change the kitchen bin will people notice the bag is full and change it instead of just tossing their rubbish on top and pressing it down so it doesn't look as full?.

Next week I may try if I leave the house and never come back will anyone notice Grin

Our Dec's are down op and I live it. I'm blaming nesting because I'm 35 weeks pregnant, in reality I just wanted to hoover under it, not just around it! Do it!
