Has anyone else noticed this or AIBU?

Extraordinarily so, yes. I've noticed it too.
It's quite extraordinary, I must say.

HughPewBarneyMcGrew · 27/12/2020 10:49

In every conversation?

No, you are being extraordinarily unreasonable.

HermioneMakepeace · 27/12/2020 13:37

@ClutchingMyPearlsAppropriately I am so extraordinarily pleased that you have noticed it also 😊.

OP posts:
HecatesCats · 27/12/2020 13:39

I find it extraordinary that you would even suggest that

Brogues · 27/12/2020 13:40

I tend to use it after reading mr men books.

anewdispensation · 27/12/2020 13:41

Yes and also ‘tremendous’

I love both words!

Hopdathelf · 27/12/2020 13:43

And terribly.

KaptainKaveman · 27/12/2020 13:43

I'm quite posh but I don't say extraordinary much.

britnay · 27/12/2020 13:52

How many actually posh people have you conversed with and in what sort of setting?

ClutchingMyPearlsAppropriately · 27/12/2020 13:55

Extraordinary number of people in quite extraordinary settings.

RickJames · 27/12/2020 13:55

Not noticed it but you've inspired me to start using it, and tremendous sounds good too Smile

I live overseas so I enjoy being reminded of fun words to use in conversation.

RollOnForever · 27/12/2020 13:58

I say it a lot and I'm rough as fuck.

shinynewapple2020 · 27/12/2020 14:01

Hmm I don't think I actually know any posh people Grin

Nanasplit · 27/12/2020 14:04

My posh friend says "rather" all the time eg. I'm rather hungry, she's rather pretty etc.

She also says "I can't TELL you how..." eg I can't TELL you how lovely it is to see you etc.

Shimy · 27/12/2020 14:07

@Nanasplit

My posh friend says "rather" all the time eg. I'm rather hungry, she's rather pretty etc.

She also says "I can't TELL you how..." eg I can't TELL you how lovely it is to see you etc.

But she didn’t say, ‘Shan’t’ Wink.
Bixs · 27/12/2020 14:09

I don’t think I do.

JuniLoolaPalooza · 27/12/2020 14:12

My posh friend says "absolutely" all the time. I love it.

Glitterblue · 27/12/2020 14:19

I used to work with a very posh person who used extraordinary all the time - also splendid, terribly, awfully and tremendous.

winewolfhowls · 27/12/2020 14:40

Only if they are Mr Men surely?

WorraLiberty · 27/12/2020 14:44

No, I work with tonnes of posh people and I don't think any of them use the word that much.

'Super' on the other hand...

"I'm super excited"

"I'm super angry"

"I'm super hungry"

"Oh, cheese for lunch? Super!" 😂

BritWifeinUSA · 27/12/2020 14:46

Stop speaking to posh people and you won’t be bothered by it then.

ClutchingMyPearlsAppropriately · 27/12/2020 14:47

"Oh, cheese for lunch? Super!"

Interesting. Besides this, the rest of your examples I've only heard 'youtubers', 'instagrammers' and the general "millenial" or 'Gen z' public say.

HermioneMakepeace · 27/12/2020 15:26

‘Super’ is definitely another posh people’s word.

OP posts:
SebastianTheCrab · 27/12/2020 15:37

I noticed that posh people also never use the word posh they use grand

OutedByHobby · 27/12/2020 15:40

Ghastly

Horrid

Unspeakable, which they’ll expand on in an increasing pitch of indignation.

Absolutely, when they mean yes.

Insufferable. You just know they haven’t done much suffering.
