To not understand matching pyjamas and Christmas Eve boxes

I don’t understand where all these new traditions have come from. Whole families wearing matching Christmas pyjamas and Christmas Eve boxes.

Do you do it? Or are you also confused?

Is there anyone that does not dress their baby up either for Christmas, Easter, world book day or Halloween? I mean what enjoyment does the baby gain from drawing up. I just find all these new norms a little odd, or am I just miserable?

Never done it. There is no way dh would wear matching pjs. I don't get the posting photos all over fb and instagram of adults wearing bedwear but I'm more of a private person anyway.

I liked the matching pyjamas thing for a couple of years and still do really, but this year I didn’t bother with it. I had enough on my plate without getting stressed about 3 sizes being in stock on 1 out of stock etc.. They looked adorable in their new individual pyjamas.

I did get matching Christmas jumpers and dress for the kids though. Never any year bothered with Christmas Eve boxes either.

I’ve been on here long enough to see almost every variation of this thread. Sometimes it’s seasonal, sometimes it’s a specific thing (I don’t understand, why do people like Pandora jewellery/theme parks/acrylic nails), but whatever it is it always has a whiff of snobbery about it. The OP understands just fine, they want to start a thread to make themselves feel superior to the masses who like these common things. Words like commercialised, ghastly, American and unnecessary get thrown about with abandon.

Oh god yes totally forgot about the middle class mumsnet hatred of pandora, which began a couple of years after the hoi polloi started to wear them. Same with Hunter wellies. Bloody working classes...
