AIBU to ask what to do about my badger stripe roots without using box dye.

I recently had a Balayage after using box dyes for years Blush. I have an area along my parting that always comes out grey which I have always touched up with box dye. The hairdresser has told me to stop doing it as it makes it hard to 'life' my hair colour. The trouble is the grey comes through after 2 weeks and I hate it! I can't afford to go to have my roots done every two weeks. I get scalp psoriasis and those root sprays always trigger it.

Does anyone know if there is a dye that is not as harsh as box dyes that I could buy just to touch up my roots myself? No bleach involved, just dark brown. Are there salon quality dyes that I could source?

This sounds like something a hairdresser would say to get you to go more often. Just use the box dye, no one apart from (possibly) a hairdresser will notice. I doubt even they could tbh.

I don't know the brand name of it but I think you can get root touch up sprays now! They're very effective (take 30 secs) and wash out. Maybe less harsh on your hair than a box dye?

Oh sorry just seen you can't use those - ignore!!!

Sharpie?

I was my hair with henna. It lifts the roots brilliantly.

Use hairdresser dye. Inoa is brilliant. I buy it from amazon

Learn to love the grey? Probably a long shot

I love my badger stripes. I say embrace them!

John Frieda does a powder for that purpose, it is like eye shadow but you put it on the roots at the parting.

I have seen hairdressers in YouTube recommending using eyeshadow in the same way.

Town dry shampoo takes the edge off it www.superdrug.com/Hair/Shampoo/Dry-Shampoo/Superdrug-Dry-Shampoo-Cocoa-Brownie-150ml/p/255451

Also mascara is a good quick fix. I have grey hair now so not sure what else is on the market of late but there used to be a crayon type thing to colour roots in too, it washed out.

Semi permanent dye? Could time it so its washed out for the next appointment
