To think some people on here just can't (won't) take advice? *lighthearted.

For example...
OP: Agh crisis! I have no pigs in blankets.
Mumsnetter: Have you tried a shop?
OP: I dont live near any shops.
MN: Could you drive to the shops?
OP: I dont drive.
MN: Could you get a friend to drive you to the shop?
OP: None of them drive and they are all at work.
MN: Could you get a taxi?
OP: I only have 15p in the house and there are no cashpoints on this remote island.
MN: Could you check down the back of the sofa, empty pockets, etc, to find some money?
OP: We don't have sofas and none of our clothes have pockets.
MN: Could you try making the pigs in blankets?
OP: I have no fingers or thumbs. So no.
MN: Could you just go without them this year?
OP: No can do, I'm afraid. Have promised the children. They would be heartbroken.
MN: Could you move Christmas to another day so you can get to a shop to purchase the pigs in blankets?
OP: This is the only day I have off until 2022. It has to be today.
MN: Could you order some from Amazon Prime Now?
OP: Can't.
MN: Could you go for a walk, source a pig from a farm, make sausages and bacon from it and get the kids to make them? It will double up as a fun Christmassy activity.
OP: No. Baby's just gone down for his nap. Then it will be too dark to find a pig.

Etc.

@WorraLiberty

MN: Could we send a Mumsnetter to your address with an emergency supply of pigs in blankets?

OP: No, because I never answer the door to anyone.

Love it!

My favourite was the OP who was struggling with forgetting arrangements/appointments etc. Pretty much everyone said ‘Put a reminder in your phone’. She responded with ‘Oh no, I don’t put reminders in my phone’. People obviously asked why not, or suggested she start, but she just kept saying it and getting more and more frustrated, screaming ‘How many times - I DO NOT put reminders in my phone!!!!’ - as if this was somehow an insurmountable problem, and that she just didn’t do it and couldn’t easily change that (in the same way you might say you can’t fly a plane or speak Swahili). In the end she claimed that putting things in her phone ‘gives me the heebie-jeebies!!!’
Oh I NEED a link to this thread!

Reminds of the post where the op had bought a house but it was too small for them when their dss came to stay and she wanted to build a shed for him in the garden. No suggestion was good enough. It was so frustrating.

I do enjoy a thread where it goes on for days with hundreds of pieces of advice and not one piece suitable for the OP!

@slipperywhensparticus

On some threads it feels like op wants someone from here to enter there home and fix the problem for them 🤣
They want you to PM them and offer cash.
SchrodingersImmigrant · 26/12/2020 18:13

I think some people just want to be told that there is no way to solve whatever problem they are having to absolve themselves of responsibility for not trying to deal with it.

I do remember one of my Facebook friends complaining last year that she was fed up with the Christmas decorations and really wanted to take them down, but was worried her daughter would be upset. She got several ‘Do what’s right 4 u hon, take them down’ replies. ‘But Emma will be so upset though!!! SadSadSad’ she responded. So I said she should just grit her teeth and leave them up to please her daughter. ‘But I really want them GONE though!!!! SadSad’, she says to that.

What the bloody hell did she want people to say? She had two choices - why was she whinging about no one suggesting choice number three?

I thought this was about me for a minute as I kept forgetting things and asked for advice. However I'm pretty sure (although my memory could be failing) I didn't say putting reminders in my phone gave me the 'heebie jeebies' 😂 I downloaded a reminder app and all is well except when I forget to add a reminder into my phone
