@Clevererthanyou

Glummy - yes, why not? Does life have to be infinitely fucking depressing as soon as kids hit their teens or something? My 28 year old autistic brother in law still firmly believes in Santa, its my MIL obviously but when he eventually lives with us I'll keep it going into his seventies if he's happy.
I think that’s a really sweet thing to do for your BIL. Smile

Just got caught exciting from the bathroom with dd's tablet in hand, was buying Robux.

She wanted to tell me about a dream 🙈

Now I have to smuggle her laptop out to put a Sims expansion pack on.......🙈

lovelemoncurd · 25/12/2020 03:24

Our DDs are 15 and 21 and we have just sneezed around putting stockings out and Santa gifts.

I really am not sure how it will stop but it's a part of Xmas they enjoy. I did put the mince pie, carrot and rum out though last night and the eldest poured it straight into a coke when the youngest DD went to bed!

lovelemoncurd · 25/12/2020 03:26

Sneezed around 🤣🤣 sneaked around ( although we are full of cold so the first term probably more accurate)!

lovelemoncurd · 25/12/2020 03:29

@PastaPins Most of my DDs large friendship group think it's fab. I'm not sure why you think a child would get picked on for that. You must live in an odd place!

I dont think I've ever admitted knowing it was my parents despite being aware some time in junior school, and I'm 35! DH knows he's in trouble if my stocking doesnt get sneakily filled & appear as if by magic.

fastwigglylines · 25/12/2020 04:01

Just got caught by 7yo DD, but pretended I was putting the cat in her bed as he'd followed me in.

Then got caught again trying to sneak the cat's stocking off DD's bed. (Don't ask!).

Her Dad had let her put a massive sticker on it so it was stuck to the bed and the fucking thing had bells on it! She did ask if Santa had come at this point, so think I may have been rumbled.

She asked if the tooth fairy was real earlier this year so she's definitely reached the suspicious stage! I may find I've been busted, come the morning.

I have no idea when 12yo DS stopped believing, he plays along admirably. He let slip he knew when he was 9 but O expect it was a fair bit younger.

jillypill · 25/12/2020 04:02

I used to hunt for presents even though I believed Santa so obviously I was suspicious. Can't remember how old I was maybe 9/10. Finally found presents one yr & on Christmas Day it was the same shapes/wrap. Wasn't bothered & didn't say anything for years. #stillbelieve!

jillypill · 25/12/2020 04:03

The 14 year old will end up getting picked on

🙄

fastwigglylines · 25/12/2020 04:03

I mean, what kind of twisted mind makes stockings with bells on FFS?! Xmas Shock

BeanieB2020 · 25/12/2020 04:04

I caught my parents when I was around 6 years old. I didn't tell them and let them keep going until I was 10 because I knew how much they enjoyed it!

jillypill · 25/12/2020 04:06

My mum still does a stocking for me & my siblings!

dazzlinghaze · 25/12/2020 04:09

When I was little I put out an orange club for Santa, it was the last one left. My dad ate the biscuit then came into my room to switch my bedside lamp off after I had fallen asleep. He accidentally woke me up and I asked for a kiss and cuddle night night and when he gave me a kiss I smelled the orange club on his breath. My mum said I screamed the place down crying "WHY DID YOU EAT SANTAS BISCUIT?!!!!" My dad said my mum moaned the face off him for nearly blowing the secret so he always made sure there was a plain biscuit for me to put out after that Grin

This thread made me full blown panic that I'd left the santa paper out. Went looking for it and then woke DH to see if he'd seen it. He had put it in his wardrobe. Phew.

lyinginthegutterstaringatstars · 25/12/2020 04:32

When I was about 7 ( or 8/9) my parents left the price tags on the boxes. I never mentioned that to them.

Baublebox · 25/12/2020 04:51

When I was 9 my dad fell through the loft floor and landed on my bunk bed, with me in it.
He was still clutching the Santa sack that he had gone up to retrieve. Grin

I was about 7/8 I heard the door. Went to the top of the stairs to see mam's friend bringing over my bike she had been minding. I said nothing!

We also bought one with a bell on, I agree why make them in the first place, but oh we didn't think that purchase through at all!
musicalfrog · 25/12/2020 07:13

I remember my mum would carefully wrap the Santa presents in different paper to our main presents

I just realised I do this subconsciously!

RedHelenB · 25/12/2020 07:17

My daughter and her friend at pre school were naughty and looked into the office where Father Christmas was hiding ready to surprise the children of the next door toddler group. Their playgroup leader said their eyes were as wide as saucers when they came out and told her Santa was in her office!

I've never been caught though.

VulvaPerson · 25/12/2020 07:17

No. But I thought DD (8) was asleep, and she was creeping around the landing and informed me she could hear me wrapping loads of presents. Used the excuse I was wrapping the stuff for her cousins and that, but I don't think she believed me 100% as I got a suspicious look from her.

VulvaPerson · 25/12/2020 07:19

I remember catching my dad putting the stockings down. In our house, presents were downstairs but we were not allowed up until stockings were outside bedroom doors. I got up to go to loo and caught dad trying to put them down quietly. He told me santa had left it downstairs by mistake and he was just bringing it up Grin

This one wins the thread. Though runner up to orange club breath Grin

My brothers and I are in our 30's and we still woke up to a text from our dad asking "Has he been?"
