To think many people are Covid hypocrites?

I have no problem with people who ignore all the rules and don't judge others for doing the same.

I have no problem with people who studiously obey the rules and want others to do the same.

What I hate are those that both disobey the rules, but rant on about how "it's not a proper lockdown" or said that they wanted Christmas cancelled, whilst simultaneous breaking the rules in ridiculous ways.

Person A was desperate to see Christmas cancelled for other people (had no plans anyway so made no difference to them). During lockdown they were quite happy shagging strangers on dating apps.

Person B said "lockdown 1 was too slow to be implemented and not strict enough". They were also shagging around during it and had multiple "bubbles".

In a poll recently 70%+ of people said they wanted stricter lockdowns. SAGE data shows that only 20% of people actually self-isolate when they have the three main Covid symptoms.

AIBU to think that many of those that shout the loudest in favour of lockdowns are the worst rule-breakers?

Oh yes. My SIL is forever ranting on about how worried she is about her dad catching it and yet she's happy to have him look after her two children and is having him over for Christmas dinner in her house tomorrow. Oh and she's a nurse so she should bloody know better.

Break the rules if you want but don't pretend you're better than everyone else while you do it.

Yep.

I work in a local version of a supermarket.

Colleague gets angry that people: shop in groups, only buy one thing, don't wear a mask, ding socially distance.

They: have multiple people round to their flat, go in to shop with OH and only buy booze.

It's infuriating.

If person A & B are your friends... then you need new ones!

I agree! Everyone's about the roolz until they apply to them.

I'm maybe slightly guilty of this myself. I will mix with 1 or 2 friends during lockdown, whilst criticising people holding 50 people parties. Then again I wouldn't hold or attend a 50 person party. But then to some I will break 1 rule whilst criticising others for breaking another rule. But then again, I wouldn't criticise anyone for breaking the rules in the way I do.

I think ultimately all people are 'selfish' (most overused word of 2020) because everyone's doing ultimately what they thinks best for them. Even those martyring themselves going on about everything they're sacrificing are doing it because they think it'll work and get their own lives back soonest, whilst those breaking the roolz do it because they think it's pointless no matter what. I can criticise anyone really for doing what they need to in order to get through this.

Bit like the neighbours clapping for the NHS whilst breaking lockdown and mixing with others.

I was cracked up today

tier 2. in the queue at our large farm shop to collect my turkey

Group of 8 adults and about 15 children sitting round with huddled on benches having coffee, hugging each other and children rolling round on the outdoor play stuff. 1 diva was screeching about how she was self isolating and taking every precaution as her ecv parents and in laws were coming for Christmas (she was at least 50 feet away as we could all hear her)

man behind me in queue looked at us all and said

Delusional
