To ask my neighbours to use their inside voices?

My neighbours have been loudly shouting to one another all evening - I’ve been hearing their ‘conversation’ / shouting / laughing since about 8pm. They’re downstairs (I can tell through the noise levels!) so I came upstairs and have been trying to sleep but can’t for the noise travelling up and through the walls. My toddler has been awake once, and my eldest is also still up due to the noise Angry

Would I be unreasonable to give it until midnight, and then go round and ask them to please lower their voices? Never done that before but I’m nearing the end of my tether!

Op I’d report it but I’d certainly not go around and ask them to use there inside voice purely for your safety. They could easily turn on you or just ramp up the noise

If you are concerned for the neighbours safety then I’d recommend calling the police but otherwise log the noise with the council

Thanks Joined. I guess I’d better not - I’d look bloody crackers in my dressing gown anyhow and I’d not be able to show my face on the drive again Blush

It’s a new build and the walls are thin, and I appreciate that we make noise as a family, but not so late at night (which is routine for them - I’m just feeling particularly tetchy tonight!)

How often does it happen? If it's a one off I'd probably leave it (but be boiling with rage inside). If it's regular and they're not too scary I'd probably say sorry to bother you but the noise is keeping my child awake, I've done that to a neighbour before and they were very apologetic and didn't realise.

Hahaha to use their indoor voices? What are they 3 😂.
Keep a log of it.
And maybe try to mention it once in a breasy way see how they respond. They might not even realise

@Babyfg thanks, they are often noisy at night, I think I’ve just had a long day at work so am particularly sensitive to it today!

It’s not music or arguing, they just seem to shout / shriek to each other rather than talking at a normal volume?! Perhaps alcohol induced.

Sorry OP, it’s a bit shit isn’t it. My current neighbour seems to have her radio on from the moment she wakes up until last thing at night and so I have the pleasure of being kept awake by it and then woken up by it.
