Christmas Gifting

Before I begin I want to say categorically that I don't give to receive. However I wonder AIBU to feel a bit disheartened that I've this year I've done nearly 14 presents for children of friends and have received only 2 back for my own? I fully appreciate that giving the gifts is my choice but in some cases I've not even had a proper acknowledgement as they've been handed over through other friends due to the current situation. I really don't want to resent giving presents but when I put time and effort into buying/wrapping/delivering gifts is a quick text to say thank you unreasonable to expect?? Help!

I usually get DS to write his thank you letters on Boxing Day. It hadn’t occurred to me that people might think we were rude for not thanking them before Christmas Blush

Both people I have posted stuff to have messaged to say it has arrived. Which I think is polite.
I assume they will say thank you for the actual gifts after they open them.

Other gifts are stuck either with hopeless couriers or via intermediary friends who were due to go but got stopped by the new restrictions. No idea when all that can be sorted out!
Maybe the gifts have not yet landed at their destination!

We’ve received about 30 parcels for our kids and I haven’t said thank you to anybody yet, I’d find it very strange to thank people before the gifts were opened. If somebody handed it over in person I’d say thanks automatically, but I certainly wouldn’t text to say thanks something arrived in the post.

I think it's nice to let people know you've got it if it was posted, given how the post is at the moment. I got a parcel from my sister I wasn't expecting so I just messaged her to say I've got a parcel from her and looking forward to opening it. Same with my niece.
I'll text them again to thank them specifically for whatever books they are.
