To ask about my blocked ear ...again!

I posted a couple of days ago about a build up in my ear which is completely blocked and I have no hearing. Got some great suggestions about applying olive oil and a couple of posters suggested getting one of those home irrigation kits to ‘flush out’ ear which I did yesterday after it arrived from Amazon.

This didn’t work, but I’m now in a panic because as well having a completely blocked ear it now hurts too. I’ve just read on the NHS website that you shouldn’t put water in your ears?! But surely this is what nurses do to flush out the wax?

I’m totally distraught that I appear to have made things worse, can anyone offer me any positive thoughts or advice? I know it’s pretty trivial in current circumstances but it’s tipping me over the edge mentally!

Thank you!

Been there.. I have small ears. I went to the GP three times and was prescribed different things and the problem kept returning. The second visit was the nurse who insisted it was because I was on an airplane despite saying SEVERAL times I had the issue days before the flight. Third gp was going to have my ears syringed only to get a call and say that they didn’t do that there. Went to a private office to have the wax sucked out and they told me that my ear canal was actually dry but there was wax coated around my ear drum and that all I could do was oil to break it up a bit. It worked temporarily. It took almost a year to get sorted. Refused to go back to the gp since it had been a waste of time and we were under lockdown. I found these metal ear cleaners to clean my ears and I haven’t had the problem since. They have a spiral head in the shape of a ball that grabs the wax. Yes, I know objects shouldn’t be stuck in ears but it was the only thing that helped and I do it carefully, slow and don’t go deep enough to not cause damage. I use it about every three to five days.

My dad has been suffering with blocked ears now for months and months and months.

Suction hasn't worked, oil hasn't worked... They finally took a swab and he has got fungal infections in both ears... Which is now being treated but could take months and months and months to clear.

It took a long time for him to be referred... Only after he went back to his GP after the 4th round of antibiotics didn't work he got the referral.
