To think its silly to say 2021 is a 'no go'

and that we can only look towards 2022 as being normal again?
I honestly think we will be over most of this virus by summer. Dp and I have lots of trips planned including travelling abroad. Really shocked at the people saying that 2021 will be similar to this year. Confused

As much as I wish things would get back to some kind of normality next year, I honestly think it's going to be 2022. My job and industry has been very hard hit and will definitely not be back to any kind of normal this year. I think a lot of other industries and events will be similar.

I just can't wait to get a hug from someone or be able to go out for a proper meal

IWantT0BreakFree · 23/12/2020 21:31

I think 2021 will be very similar to 2020. I think we may see a lifting of restrictions to some degree in the spring and summer, and a continuation of the tier system throughout the year. I think domestic and some foreign travel will be possible at some points in the year. In terms of proper "normal life", as in gigs and festivals and huge parties and family get togethers and events, I think we'll be lucky to see that in 2022.

Given the announcement of a further mutation from South Africa today, I think that we'll have much of the same for a long while

SewingWarriorQueen76 · 23/12/2020 22:27

The vaccinations that everyone is talking about is within the UK. I have noidea if Mediterranean countries have the same scale vaccination schedule as the UK but people simply haven't done the maths.

How long to vaccinate people of a population of 70 million, if you manage 137,000 a week. The numbers we have ordered simply won't be enough for everyone to have 2 doses, assuming that the mutation are covered by this. Practically, the best we can hope for is that the NHS staff can get us through the second wave. It must be horrific for them, nursing patients, who would otherwise be healthy.

I am trying to find the best we can make out of local things but I would love a Xmas piss up with the school mums..

Then if you throw Brexit in on top.........

I've got to think that 2021 is going to be better because I can't imagine anything worse at the moment.

DecemberDiana · 23/12/2020 22:51

Short-term I have to think I'll make a better job of this coming lockdown. (In Scotland and all non essential business is shut from Boxing Day and kids are not going back before mid January and I don't think they'll be back then tbh.)

DecemberDiana · 23/12/2020 22:52

A notebook and a plan is a start.

Haffiana · 23/12/2020 23:10

It is going to be a terrific year, but we won't be able to afford to do anything.

Rosebel · 23/12/2020 23:28

I would like to think next year will be better but I doubt it. Even if Covid is under control at some point next year the economy will still be fucked, there will still be mass unemployment and parents will still be struggling to feed their children.

Apparently there'll be a new roaring 20's with lots of sexual licentiousness...... can't wait!! And that's free
Posturesorposes · 24/12/2020 00:21

It’s not as thought only two extremes are possible and that it is either 1) that 2021 is back to normal or 2) a pile of shit. The answer is in between. Things will begin to improve and 2021 will be better overall than 2020, I think. But that doesn’t mean it will return us to 2019 normalcy and some significant things like very large gatherings and holidays with significant foreign travel may need to wait.

Scbchl · 24/12/2020 00:24

I think it's going to be seasonal like flu and always be here and they will need to tweak the vaccine each year like they do with the flu and possibly the same people will get it as those that do the flu.

So, hopefully by spring things will be slightly improving and good by Summer then might see it rising again autumn/winter next year again.

blue25 · 24/12/2020 00:30

I think 2021 will be much of the same unfortunately. We’re a long way from normality. I’m planning holidays for 2022 though!

Inpersuitofhappiness · 24/12/2020 00:36

2021 can't be much worse can it!
I've booked some trips, in holding onto hope they'll go ahead, if not I think ill just chuck the money id have spent on hols in a savings pot towards a deposit for a house. A win/win if you like.

This Covid shit will NOT break me.

Starlightstarbright1 · 24/12/2020 09:14

I have booked a caravan in Wales last week of Easter holiday. Well aware it might not happen but need something to look foreward to.

I really woukd love to sit on a hot beach end of summer but wouldn't risk booking at this point.
