AIBU to ask for ideas for neighbourly subterfuge??

Posting for traffic!

We've recently moved and a few doors down there is a group of men living together (sadly, not students) who have a party every Saturday plus bonus nights, like last night. They have a fire pit in the garden and sit round it talking loudly and playing music, often until dawn. It wakes my DC up (4 & 5m).
We have raised it with the landlord and the estate agent who manage the property.
In the meantime, any ideas for ever so subtle acts of revenge they'll never suspect anything? I'm pissed.

Phone the council

Not subterfuge, but sounds like nuisance noise/antisocial behaviour

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 22/12/2020 09:08

Are they in breach of the lockdown rules? Do they have visitors?

PixellatedPixie · 22/12/2020 09:12

A very close relative of mine had a beautiful Victorian terrace in a trendy area (not in the U.K.) and a gang of drug dealers who ran a whore house moved in next door! The police used the services next door and so we’re useless.

She found a way to cut off their electricity which I’m sure is illegal but it was very satisfying to be able to do and nobody ever found out it was her doing it.

She also kept one of the prostitute’s money hidden in her microwave so that the poor woman would have enough money to escape from the pimps, which she was later able to do.

What about if you play really annoying music very loud too every time they are playing theirs? Do you have their mobile numbers? You could list them on Gumtree or wherever as selling all sorts of goods really cheaply so they get inundated with calls. That’s probably illegal too though so maybe not.

Well either speak to them, report it to the council noise department or get over it.

Environmental health every time.

Kamma89 · 22/12/2020 09:27

Talk to them! If that fails start recording instances of noise & go via the council route. Don't start a petty revenge war, what if they are petty back? They're a group of adults, you have young children. Who's more vulnerable & easier to annoy!?

IsabellaMozzarella · 22/12/2020 09:38

@PixellatedPixie now, that's the kind of info I was after!

We are going to go through the proper channels but I would like to plot acts of revenge (which I will not implement)

I used to knock on my neighbour’s door at 8 on my way to work to let them know the noise had kept us up all night and we were exhausted. I also reported to the police when they were smoking weed in the garden. Later found out they were renting and through which agent, sent the agent a letter letting them know they had pets, stored drugs there and had sublet the living room out. They left after 6 months, presumably the lease was not renewed.

And to hear stories of what other people have done
