In Manchester they all seem to arrive now with holes in the packaging. Today's latest was slit open completely.

Is there a number for customer services?

Google suggests this.

My child’s school report arrived in the post today ripped open.

MsPeachh · 21/12/2020 22:05

Report it OP and they will investigate. My ex was a postie and he tells me they take this very seriously.

VulvaPerson · 21/12/2020 22:12

I wonder if anyone is able to redeem them while not scratching off the little pin

Not sure if you can with the next ones, but some you can. We used to have some football pool card thing at work which had the foil stuff to protect the answer until the card was full, and if you held it to the light just right, you could read it quite easily. I was told this by another member of staff when I started, and was told staff are absolutely not allowed to pick any teams because of this (though they could surely have, if they wanted, given the answer to a friend or something!)

The majority of mine arrive fine, but we have had a voucher stolen from my sons birthday card.

I'm in Manchester and I've never had a single parcel arrive opened. People would be disappointed to receive all of the shite I buy on eBay anyway Grin

willstarttomorrow · 21/12/2020 22:48

I think it is very much based on your local postman/sorting office. Some one I knew years ago had a brother who was a postman- a very sweet young man. He had a gambling problem and it was discovered he was opening cards looking for money (years ago before people sent presents online or vouchers). He went to prison, it was treated very seriously. Tbh I think most postmen and delivery people are honest and professional but there will always be the odd few as in all professions.

BlueBottle18 · 21/12/2020 23:05

Ive never had any parcels arrive opened or any cards I dont think. Certainly not sliced open.

Had a card arrive the other day that was open but assumed it was because they didnt lick it shut due to covid

MrsTravers · 21/12/2020 23:45

Yes; I don't send anything unless it's tracked signed/for now, which annoys me as am having to pay over the odds for the same service.

Used to think it was just inbound (at least one birthday card gets tampered with per birthday) but a gift card I sent a friend in the summer never arrived (first class tracked....). Parents advised me that their parcel arrived ripped today.

lesleyashfishlips · 21/12/2020 23:50

I've had a few parcels arrive that look like they've been tampered with. It's always stuff from my mum so I assume it's her mail centre and not mine.

If it's anything remotely interesting e.g. a birthday card we send it inside a 'stunt book' now. One of my DH's old uni books to be precise. And it gets sent special delivery which seems to deter prying eyes as the parcels are tracked at every stage of the way and kept separate from the usual mail stream.

Timbucktime · 23/12/2020 15:53

Ok so I’ve just had a second Royal Mail delivery which has clearly even opened to see what’s inside. They weren’t interested as it was only vegetable seeds.
2 items in 1 week. Or good.

Nowaynothappening · 23/12/2020 15:57

It’s only happened to me when it’s been packaged in brown paper. Always shit packaging, always turns up ripped.
