To ask what you would spend £60

I do apologise I just couldn’t find an appropriate thread for this ?

basically my MIL has given myself and DH £60 for Christmas in a card which is lovely, the reason we know is because when she gave us the card she told us what was in it. But We literally have no idea what to spend it on! Sounds silly and a little trivial I know . But we would like to treat ourselves to something for Christmas . What would you spend your £60 on as a couple ? In tier 3 so no chance of going out, we don’t drink a lot . So something to “use” or make use of would be nice :)

you gotta give us more info. What do you do with your leisure time?

Lululatch · 20/12/2020 21:36

Do you have a garden? I’d buy plants or possibly some solar lanterns for the garden

SEE123 · 20/12/2020 21:39

I really like those dining "at home" experiences. If you're foodies there are so many of those available now. Happy Christmas!

Forevermoaning · 20/12/2020 21:42

Unfortunately no garden that warrants some love at the moment , basically it needs a lot more than some solar lights in its current state. Ooh I’ll have a look at the at home dining experience :)

I’d save it until something came up that I really wanted to do/buy - no need to rush to spend it if there’s nothing you can think of atm.

Littlemissnutcracker · 20/12/2020 21:48

I would use it for a nice lamp or throws or cushion covers

Dinner set (new plates or new mugs or pans)

Bedlinen

But I love homewares. Stuff you use everyday and enjoy.

Jackabobbo · 20/12/2020 21:50

The only kind of treats I really buy are food related so I would most likely spend it on takeaways or a really good meal out when that's possible.

Otherwise something you can both enjoy at home - whether that's some sort of entertainment thing like dvds or boardgames (I don't know if people watch dvds or play board games anymore!). Or some kind of useful gadget for the kitchen, an ornament, something for the garden or a plant etc - depends what your interests are really. Even a nice pair of snuggly slippers each.

CrotchBurn · 20/12/2020 22:58

I would spend it all on a bottle of wine and lots of posh cheeses

StoneofDestiny · 20/12/2020 23:17

I'd put it towards something nice for my home, something I'd get pleasure out of for years to come like a painting or a special lamp.

FangsForTheMemory · 20/12/2020 23:19

Books

eeek88 · 20/12/2020 23:26

Probably a Welsh blanket.

Or some art, or framing art we already own.

EverybodystalkingaboutJamie · 20/12/2020 23:28

Cashmere scarf or hat.

PiggyPokkyFool · 20/12/2020 23:28

I'd spend it all at coteathome.co.uk/
It's fab - really special easy meals.

Agree!
partyatthepalace · 20/12/2020 23:42

I’d put it away for a dinner or night away when we are out of this mess.

But if that doesn’t appeal I’d spent it on pre-prepared food for a cheering late Jan (worst time of the year) date night in.

@Forevermoaning

The Home By Nico one is exactly £60 for 4 courses and includes a bottle of wine. We loved it!
