Self isolating in house share

My house mate got tested 4 days ago and just found out he tested positive for covid.

I can't find any information if I still need to self isolate if we both have en suites so don't share a bathroom and I don't use the kitchen and we have no other shared spaces. Our bedrooms are on completely different floors and we've only seen each other twice in the last few weeks and spoke very briefly at a good distance. Would I need to self isolate?

Presumably he will have given or be going to give, your name to the contract tracing team. I'm not sure if all the caveats you have given make a difference and you're likely to require to isolate.

empiricallyyours · 19/12/2020 20:40

Do you use the same front door or hallway?

empiricallyyours · 19/12/2020 20:41

Or staircase?

Confusedcovid · 19/12/2020 20:41

Yes we use the same front door.

I dont think he has given my details?

Yes, you do. You are classed as one household. Crap I know. My son lives in a house share, between them they've had to isolate 4 times this year, they all work in NHS.

LoveMyKidsAndCats · 19/12/2020 21:00

Yes you do I think.

AllThatJazzle · 19/12/2020 21:16

Yes, you are part of the same household.

empiricallyyours · 19/12/2020 21:28

On that case, you'll have touched the same door handle etc, so agree, yes you should isolate.

empiricallyyours · 19/12/2020 21:28

*in that case

Domino20 · 20/12/2020 01:17

Why hasn't he given your details? Has he left anyone else off his list??

FabbyMagic · 20/12/2020 01:20

Yes, you had to legally from when he first had symptoms (if that’s why he had a test?)
