Dentist gone bust!

I have been having gum disease treated privately for a year. Very costly and I paid in advance for a treatment plan well into the new year
The company have gone bust and I have a letter as a creditor from an insolvency company, detailing mine and other patients names, addresses and money that was paid in advance
As well as being at a loss as to how I'm going to recoup my money, I'm annoyed that my personal details must have been shared with everyone else on the list!!!
Employees are also included, names addresses and wages
I'm not well read on this type of thing but is it standard to have this confidential information made public? The letter came second class post not signed for or marked confidential

Yes that's a major data protection breach. Was that from the insolvency company?

Gutted about your money loss. If you paid with a credit card you can reclaim it otherwise you will be bottom of the barrel with regards getting anything back, it's probably unlikely, least in my experience.

Sorry this happened.

As a creditor of an insolvent company yes the accountants dealing with will contact you to register a claim. Sending you details of all the other creditors (and your info to them) is probably a breach of GDPR. II’d be contacting the Information Commissioner on Monday.

As an unsecured creditor don’t be getting your hopes up about getting much if any money back

I stupidly (even though I thought I was being sensible) paid upfront on my debit card after saving for a while, was talked into a 5% discount if paying for all treatment I needed
I'd say I'm 60% through the plan, so annoyed
Yes I think it is a breach of data, I even recognise another person on the list!

@Newnamefor2021 yes it was from the insolvency company. I've not heard at all from the dental practice, only to cancel last weeks scheduled appointment due to unforeseen circumstances (I assumed covid related)
