Hi all, this may cause a stir. What’s everyone’s opinion on the nhs covid-19 app!?

I downloaded it on my phone (iPhone xr if that makes a difference ) and for weeks the app wouldn’t open. Just froze. I tried to delete and re-download. But couldn’t get on for many weeks. It is okay again now.

Partner hasn’t got the app. I honestly though we did have but he never bothered. Tbf he only ever goes to work in a smallish workplace, doesn’t take public transport or go anywhere outside of work without me 🤣

Is it really bad he hasn’t got it? Although he doesn’t do much without me. There are times I go and do things without him (he likes staying home) where I may have contact but he won’t. So I guess he really should get it?!

He is not anti covid or anything just hasn’t bothered with it!

Is it really bad he won’t download it?

He was put off because a work friend of his kept getting notifications to isolate then they would disappear!

I have it but keep meaning to delete it since my 2 week isolation as I only had to isolate due to infected colleague leaving her phone which I did not touch on my desk at work. We were never in contact. Just our phone signals

Thanks all!

I’ve heard of neighbours of positive cases having to isolate!!

I don’t go very far really. We haven’t eaten out since the summer, not refuel pub goers anyway (two dc), not been to the hairdressers since Jan 😫😫 I guess if you see a friend or relative they would let you know if they tested positive anyway!

Mine didn't work either. Ancient android phone. I went into Costa a few weeks back and the woman was insistent I use the app. Apparently 'the till doesn't work until you scan the code'. So I just held my phone up and pretended I did it.

Never have and never will. Its not obligatory.

Macncheeseballs · 19/12/2020 14:47

I have it, been very handy for checking into hospitality places

fiftiesmum · 19/12/2020 15:26

I deleted mine as don't want to be zapped by someone's phone in a locker at work, or by someone on the train 4 metres away, or by someone on the other side of a glass partition. I don't want to self isolate with false results.
And before anyone gets triggered I have been self testing at work every week and now doing lateral flow twice a week and I don't feel at the moment like going to bars and restaurants.

NotImpossible · 19/12/2020 15:31

I've never had it. But wfh, don't eat/go out really. I honestly can only think of one occasion since March where it might have been needed (pub lunch in the summer).

Grendalsmum · 19/12/2020 15:37

I've got it, l've also got covid and it's giving me a different isolation time to the test center email - not impressed, to be honest!

Oldraver · 19/12/2020 15:38

No I wouldn't have it though I dont think it works with my phone

To me its totally intrusive

yeOldeTrout · 19/12/2020 15:39

I forget that I even have it. I guess I go out daily which seems like lots but almost all that time is spent outdoors by myself or with 1 other member of my household, so... I don't know what the point of me having it is.

OnceBitten25 · 19/12/2020 15:42

I have it on both my personal and work phones. An alert pinged up on my work mobile telling me I'd had contact and should isolate but my OHS dept said to ignore the notification and wait to see if I was contacted by track and trace. Was never contacted.
