Not done the food shop yet, not a fan of Turkey and since it’s only the three of us, I might go with something different. Is it normal to have a ham for Christmas Day? Do you have the usual potatoes, veg & gravy with it? Either going for that or roast beef.
My loose plan is this:

Xmas Eve

Carpet picnic with lots of sharing bits and dips

Xmas Breakfast

Crumpets with roulade and smoked salmon
Cinnamon rolls
Mimosa & baileys coffee
Chocolates

Starter (sort of )

Garlic mushrooms
Pigs in blankets

Lunch

Ham lunch with potatoes, veg etc

Dessert

Chocolate log/nice dessert
Cheese & biscuits
Heroes/mixed chocolates

Please give me your ideas/menus

@Kseniya mimosa, as a drink, is just orange juice and champagne/sparkling. It's to make it sound posher not like vodka and OJ😁

Brekkie: pastries for me, cheese on toast for DH

Starter: prawn cocktails (without prawns for me) or tomato soup

Main: ham, pigs in blankets, roasties, mash, yorkshires, roast parsnips, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower cheese, gravy, mint sauce. (Without meat for me, cba with alternative option)

Pud: Christmas pudding or yule log

I have cut back massively this year as I always plan so much food that I forget to make some of it, or make it and then don't serve it Blush There are only 3 of us as well.

Breakfast: bacon rolls

Starter: cancelled

Main: Goose, roast winter veg, green veg NOT sprouts as no-one likes them, apple and prune stuffing, red cabbage.
Cranberry sauce - cancelled
Pigs in blankets - cancelled as got forgotten too many years, either not cooked in the stress or walk back in the kitchen full up and we discover a plate of them going cold.

Dessert: Christmas pudding

Will leave dead easy Boxing Day of Ham + leftover veg. Sorted.

We don't like turkey so we never have it for Christmas lunch. Just DD and me now so we have,
Vegetable and Lentil Soup

Chicken Breast or Roast Beef
Roast Tatties
Skirlie
Yorkshire Puddings
Carrots
Petit Pois
Green Beans
Gravy

For pudding we usually have Sticky Toffee Pudding, with custard for DD, without for me.

@Kseniya Sorry, like a Buck’s Fizz 💓

Breakfast:
Pastries, scrambled eggs, bacon and fruit.

Christmas lunch : KFC

Evening: breads cheese and some buffet bits.

No one in our house particularly likes roast dinner so we’re having takeaway. It was Chinese last year the kids have picked KFC this year Grin

InTheDrunkTank · 19/12/2020 12:48

The secret is... Chill. The food will be there. That's it. 😁 And if anyone has a problem and runs their mouth, we might eat them too

That is definitely good advice!

Sexnotgender · 19/12/2020 12:51

We don’t have turkey. Because it’s crap.

This year my mum is bringing a steak and ale casserole and I’m cooking cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes, vegetables and probably Yorkshire puddings as they’re delicious and I don’t care that they don’t ‘go’.

I’m vegetarian so will just skip the meat bit.

Dessert is Christmas pudding & brandy cream. I don’t like this so also making a pecan pie cheesecake.

And a cheeseboard.

MamaDane · 19/12/2020 12:54

In Denmark we have pork roast with crackling. So I definitely recommend that over the turkey 🐷😋

Cavagirl · 19/12/2020 12:56

@GiBlues did you know KFC is almost the traditional Christmas lunch in Japan? When I saw your post I thought you must be Japanese before I read the reason properly! Grin

@Kseniya I didn't either and must say that I was greatly disappear when I fiund out what it is😂 I had images of some amazing cocktail in mind, not something I used to drink regularly😂

GiBlues · 20/12/2020 18:11

@Cavagirl I didn’t know that, they’re definitely on to something there, it’s a lot more relaxed in our house without having to cook a full on roast dinner

Jamie8671 · 20/12/2020 18:29

@InTheDrunkTank OMG! Sounds amazing, can I come to yours 😂
