Annual leave at Christmas

If you work/had a job, how much time did you take off at Christmas?
My friend posted on Facebook just now with 'Imagine having this Friday off until the 4th Jan, how funny is that?" and everyone responded with laughing emojis. I'm guessing because it's a rarity to have 2 weeks off for Christmas? Except it isn't. I know many colleagues spread their leave out but I always had 2 weeks off at Christmas. Just wondered if I was in the minority?! Obviously it's different for keyworkers etc.

I always take 2 weeks off at Christmas - it’s the one time of the year that the business I work in is quiet and a huge number of people take time off to recharge. I finish today and am not back till 4 jan and I can’t wait....

Not the norm in my line of work (tourism)
I work up to and including Christmas Eve and normally back in by 28th.

I work in marketing, never had more than 4 days off in a row at Xmas as it's still our peak season.

DP works in NHS, has Xmas and boxing day off and thats it.

I’m NHS not patient facing so at least I never have to work the bank holidays. We have to cover in our team of 4 so 2 in, 2 out except on Monday when 2 are doing exams so I have to cover even as well. I’m taking 3 days leave. I have loads left over this year but we can’t carry any over so will take leave when the kids are at school 😢, and we are still stupidly busy (involved in COVID response).

Always envious of the Uni and medical school who we work closely with, even more so from this thread hearing uni staff being gifted more leave for all their hard work (we’ve done fuck all in the NHS since February 🤣). But if I was that desperate I’d apply for a job in the Uni I guess.

I haven't had two weeks off at Christmas since I left school. Now I work retail I get two days. 25-12 and 01-01.

I usually have 2 weeks off, which stems from when the kids were small and there was no childcare. This year I have leave to use up as I have had to keep cancelling it due to work. My boss likes us to use up leave at Christmas as it’s generally quite quiet work wise.
