To not drink bathroom water?!

What is the answer to this??

I would never drink it. I’m unclear on why, other than my mum, aunts etc all used to say you shouldn’t drink water from the bathroom tap.

This is a long standing debate between DH and I - he thinks I am insane. It’s the same water, says he.

I assumed it was one of those weird family idiosyncrasies but then my neighbour the other day said something about never drinking water from the bathroom tap 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Jaxhog

We have a cold water tank and I've been drinking bathroom water for over 30 years! Never had a problem (apart from the extra toes).
Sorry, are they your toes or are they just floating in the water..? Wink

Same as above, upstairs water from the tank in the loft. My dad used to tell me it was spider soup...

Just buy a big insulated bottle to keep next to your bed then you have ice cold water whenever you want it at night. I wouldn't drink water straight from the tap even downstairs because it isn't cold enough.

AlwaysLatte · 16/12/2020 23:02

Absolutely fine if it's from the mains. This is one of the reasons we changed our en suite water supply to mains because previously it was from a cold water tank in the loft and we had to go all the way downstairs in the night if we wanted a glass of water.

AlwaysLatte · 16/12/2020 23:05

How do you know where it comes from?!
Go and look in the loft to see if you have two water tanks, or try turning off the water at the mains - if it's coming from the tank it will still run. You really need to know the layout in case of a sudden issue.

I'm pretty sure our water comes from the mains too but I always had it ingrained never drink from the bathroom taps.
It seems to taste different but then I don't drink water straight from the kitchen tap either. Always filter it first.

@LadyAcony

It’s a psychological block for me - I feel like it tastes different even though I’m sure it doesn’t, my brain just says so!

@Sparklesocks it does taste different in our house! When I was pregnant I could taste it and couldn’t stand the bathroom water.

That said, our house was built in 1988 and all the water comes straight from the mains so there are no health issues. The bathroom water just tastes a bit more metallic. It doesn’t taste too bad to me now but I remember how awful it was when I was pregnant so I won’t touch it other than to brush ny teeth.

Interesting! I genuinely can’t tell if there’s a difference on it’s just that I’m convinced there is.
