To think attitudes to dog breeding has changed

In the park today socialising with my (spayed) dog.

I was chatting with the same people who a year ago tried to pressure me into breeding my dog as 'it would be cute' with their dog.

Now that people are breeding for financial gain these attitudes have changed and they were complaining and saying 'breeding should be banned'. Loudest person has no intention of neutering her dog and previously talked about breeding her dog with no health testing.

I was getting very irritated as their attitudes and opinions have hugely changed, and I'll be amazed if one of the dogs isn't from a puppy farm.

AIBU for getting annoyed that after peer pressuring me to breed my dog (never gave in) these people are now on their high horse about how awful it is others are breeding their pets?

There's nothing as fickle as folk. Though I think people have realised the extent people profit from puppy farming and irresponsible breeding during covid,so if your friends have changed their mind that can only be a good thing.

Personally I don't think it's as black and white as some here say. Dog threads always seem to be shouting at people to get a rescue, competitive waitlisting to prove how reputable their breeder is, and anything else is a puppy farm.

Having lived rurally I knew many people who got their puppies when local farms had a litter of working dogs. Some were kept and trained up for the farm and the others were sold as family pets to people. Both parents were tested, all paperwork was in order.

Oh it's definitely a good thing that people are more aware. But after months of peer pressure to breed my dog it's very annoying.
