To ask what a Christmas Eve box is?

I keep seeing posts on my local FB marketplace advertising "Christmas Eve boxes". No idea what they are, what function they have or what goes in them? Surely there are enough presents given out on Christmas day itself!? I have no DC, so perhaps something that isn't relevant to me... However, I am curious!!

@Dyrne

Everyone stop questioning the poor OP’s motivations for starting the thread. We’ve all had a lovely 8 page bunfight to entertain ourselves so we should be thanking them, quite frankly.
No, eight pages for a Christmas Eve box thread is pitiful. We hit the limit in October!

I have 3 adult sons and never did Christmas Eve boxes for them, but really they were not a thing.

DD is 7, and we have never done one for her either, but this year, i have. She has had a crap year, no school, no parties, no going round friends houses, not seeing grandparents, so i have done one for her to have something else to make her happy. She has always wanted one but i always saw them as a commercial gimmick, this year i have given in just to see the smile on her face.

They are neither right or wrong, if you want to do one, then do it, if you dont, then dont. Doesnt mean your decision is right or wrong.

Have to agree with this 😀

@PrincessNutNutRoast balls, we need to up our game.

Err...

I’ve been considering adding a fruit shoot and a Greggs sausage roll to my DS(27)’s Christmas eve box but will be putting the standard lump of coal in my DSD(7)’s box. Does anyone have an opinion on this?

Needs more razor blades.

It's kicking off a bit over on the unpopular Christmas opnions thread. I will admit my hand in stirring the pot, but oof, the constant "I don't UNDERSTAND film night boxes" discourse does kind of beg for it.
