AIBU to repost on an old thread of mine

Posting here for traffic. Want to get the correct etiquette so I don’t inadvertently get it wrong. I started a thread in relationships about six months ago. There’s been a recent update I’d like advice on. Do I post on the old thread (is it a zombie thread yet?) or do I start a new one?

What’s the correct thing to do?

You might be better off posting a new thread, linking to the old.
Otherwise you'll get lots of advice based on where you were 6 months ago without people noticing the update.

Whatever you choose, someone will moan about it! 😁

I'd start a new thread and link to the original

TeenPlusTwenties · 13/12/2020 11:16

...but in Relationships people won't mind and will be nice to you anyway.

Unlike here where you may get people being cross with you for 'posting for traffic' Grin

Not bad manners at all to bump a zombie with an update. The only problem is that posters who don't see that date/read the full thread may jump straight and reply to your OP with advice that's now irrelevant - e.g. LTB when you already have.

LuckyNumberThirteen · 13/12/2020 11:21

Someone recently update an old thread and I liked being about to read the whole thing as it was originally before my time.

Link or resurrect, it doesn't matter.

OrigamiOwl · 13/12/2020 13:18

I think start a new one with s link to the old one... Or else you'll just get people who read the first post and comment without seeing the update.

Sparklingbrook · 13/12/2020 13:25

New thread linking to old otherwise as @OrigamiOwl owl says posters will read the OP and answer that without bothering to read the update.

EurosprogBauble · 13/12/2020 14:44

posters will read the OP and answer that without bothering to read the update.

Which is exactly what has happened today!

The post which resurrected the thread was a simple mistake by a new user and has been deleted. All of the posts underneath are responding to the original issue which was posted almost 3 years ago - although nobody (yet, AFAIK) has posted "why on earth were you going out for drinks in lockdown?"
