Is my friend a psychic?!

ims0rrydarlingg · 12/12/2020 17:24

Posting here for traffic really!

My friend messaged me yesterday saying she had a dream I was 6 weeks pregnant.

My periods have always been like clockwork and I’ve never been late for a period, ever.

I’ve always tracked my cycles and keep an eye on my calendar just so I can plan things around my schedule and looking at it now, it’s showing I am 2 days late.

Is my friend a psychic or is this just a coincidence? Grin

Does she sound pleased or annoyed when you answer?

Reassured and laughing at herself! Then we arrange to meet up - I think because we live 2 hours apart now and are crap at keeping in touch, the dreams are a reminder that our friendship could die of neglect? She definitely doesn't want me dead Grin

You need to do a test now and post the results here.

Monstermissy36 · 12/12/2020 19:22

I dreamt a girl I knew was pregnant and told her, she laughed and said what a nightmare that would be. (Her family was complete). She messaged me a few weeks later to tell me she was pregnant but hadn't known or expected it. She's very happy with her extra addition now 😂

Mustbe3ormorecharacters · 12/12/2020 19:29

No such things as psychics.
When I was 9 at church camp I randomly asked a staff member if his wife was pregnant he looked shocked and asked why and I said I had a feeling. Turns out they had been trying to conceive for a few years unsuccessfully, she did a pregnancy test and was pregnant. No idea why I thought she was pregnant but it wasn’t a psychic vision or dream.

SlothWithACloth · 12/12/2020 19:35

I’ve got a friend who lives in another country. I had a dream once that she phoned me and said ‘get yourself a cup of tea as I have something to tell you’. I immediately guessed she was going to tell me she was pregnant.
So I called her, told her my dream and jokingly asked her if she was going to tell me she she was pregnant in my dream.
She replied quite shocked that she was going to call me to tell me that very news.

UrAWizHarry · 12/12/2020 19:52

I can say with absolute certainty that she is not psychic.

AwaAnBileYerHeid · 12/12/2020 20:09

I do believe in psychic abilities, mediumship etc. I've been to a few, mostly just for entertainment really and two of them told me things that they couldn't have possibly known...but they did. The others were just nonsense, not a single thing they said resonated with me. I do believe there are genuine abilities out there but that it is very rare and that there are a lot of charlatans who take advantage of folk. I also think that while people are quick to dismiss psychic abilities, they believe in things like a mothers instinct, when a mother can just know that there is something wrong with her child, even when they aren't physically together. I think this is part of what psychic is, not necessarily always woo stuff. Intuition, gut feeling.

However, back to your original post. Maybe you aren't pregnant, 2 days late is nothing. Are you maybe trying for a baby and have mentioned it? Are there any things which have maybe made her think this ie you've mentioned feeling sick, that you aren't drinking atm etc and this has maybe planted the seed in her head? If she turns out to be right, I'd be looking at the most likely explanations for her knowing over any sort of psychic abilities. And I'd also be buying a pregnancy test!

Hmm my friend was paranoid schizophrenic, he couldn’t understand why it was accepted that he heard voices yet people didn’t believe that psychic mediums could hear voices. He thought he was unfortunate that his voices were the bad spirits and he couldn’t learn how to filter them.

Because it isn't just about hearing voices, you don't automatically have enforced treatment under the mental health act or even get a diagnosis of schizophrenia just because you claim to hear voices. It's about the effect that hearing voices will have on someone's life and whether or not they need input to keep themselves or others safe as a result of these voices. Also about other symptoms that come along with the voices. Many people are voice hearers - whether that be auditory hallucinations or otherwise. It's the resulting actions and behaviours which trigger mental heath input, or not.

Sometimes I pick up my phone to answer it before people call literally a few seconds before it starts ringing my son finds it creepy but I think I'm subconsciously responding to the phone "waking up" I don't always do it surely if I was psychic I would? I also told two of my friends they were pregnant and I was right i just "knew"

Yes I know, hence him feeling he had bad spirits causing bad things to happen.

I don't know but I unexpectedly did really well in an exam recently. My friend dreamed the exact score and told me beforehand (i laughed it off as it was far higher than I was reasonably expecting). I couldn't believe it when her prediction came true. Could just be coincidence of course but it made me wonder!!

GlummyMcGlummerson · 12/12/2020 23:28

Nobody is a psychic. It's either someone with MH issues or someone who's a scam artist.

Anyway I have my fingers and toes crossed for you OP! Take a test!

Adoptthisdogornot · 12/12/2020 23:38

I don't believe in psychic powers, however I do believe that some people have really extreme sensitivities. So some people would be unconsciously aware of someone else's hormones for example, like some animals would be able to pick up on cancer, or pregmancy. Some humans are weirdly in tune with electrical signals too, which I think partly explains why some people always know when the phone is about to ring. I myself am freakishly good at anticipating the next line in films and TV. Not psychic, just good at knowing the clichéd style of writing in dramas! It's like how some people can draw a perfect circle free hand, and some people have perfect pitch or a photographic memory - they're just slightly super human.

When DNiece was expecting, MIL phoned to tell us that they'd had a dating scan and they knew the sex of the baby. DH took the call and told me afterwards. I said well, yes, I already knew and that it was a boy due on x date.

He was gobsmacked - I have no idea how I knew - she was the first person they told, and she called us to pass on the info.

It was all the more weird, because when SIL called us to tell us to save the date for DNiece's wedding the previous year, I already knew that too and told her when it was before she told me. I have no idea how I knew that either.

I had a really close friend a long time ago, and all I had to do was think of my friend, and within 5 minutes the phone would ring and it would be her.

Procrastination4 · 13/12/2020 01:13

I would have dismissed dreams as nonsense except for the fact that, a few months after a miscarriage, I dreamt that I was giving birth in the hospital where I had my first child but the delivery room seemed totally different-more like a proper bedroom with none of the clinical starkness I associated with the birth of my first child. I was really really happy until I woke up and realised that it was just a dream and then I started crying as though my heart would break.

18 months later I had my second child. After he was born, I remembered my dream. The delivery room where I had him was identical to the one in my dream-and I mean IDENTICAL! (The dream one was so weird I remembered it in minute detail.) I don’t believe in ghosts, woo, or anything like that, so I don’t know what to think about that dream.

DryRoastPeanut · 13/12/2020 02:00

I guarantee you your friend is not psychic but I do have a bridge for sale if you’re interested.

HooverWhenTheCoastIsClear · 13/12/2020 02:04

I had a dream about the road outside my family home. The next day a huge and hideous accident happened.
Let's hope i am psychic and dream of the lottery numbers.

MrDarcyismines · 13/12/2020 03:24

I had a dream I was pregnant with twins (I was 6 weeks) sure enough there were two babies in there at my 12 week scan. Haha

Mimishimi · 13/12/2020 03:36

15 years ago we found out, via a home kit, that I was pregnant. A day later, on Christmas Day almost as soon as we walked in the door my SiL asked (discreetly) if I was pregnant. I was only a week overdue.

Mimishimi · 13/12/2020 03:43

Also, a couple of weeks ago I purchased a lot of small things at an Indian grocery store for a housewarming. My daughter was with me and I said to her $72 just before the checkout girl had finished ringing everything up. It came to $72.15. My daughter and the girl gave me the strangest look - not sure if it was because they thought I was psychic or just really anal about adding things up as I went (which I swear I hadn't been), It was just the number which popped into my head.

AldiAisleofCrap · 13/12/2020 04:11

No.

TheWichitaWineOne · 13/12/2020 04:15

About 25 years ago, I was out shopping and walked past a public phone in a busy town centre that started to ring literally as I walked by it, and suddenly thought "that call is for me." I picked it up and it was a friend who had misdialled my home number.

We were both speechless. I'd hate to label it, but it happened.

hashbrownsandwich · 13/12/2020 04:28

I've posted a out this before but a few months ago in a dream a man told me he needed his broach to be found. He showed me it. It was distinctive.
I told MIL that this dream had really left me feeling strange. Didn't describe broach just said the mans name.
A few hours later she messaged me a photo saying someone on her estate (they own a lot of land) had been metal detecting and found an item. It was the exact broach I saw in my dreams.

berrygirlie · 13/12/2020 04:33

I don't believe in psychics or anything along those lines, but is there any evidence to prove psychicism is absolutely false?
I don't believe in God but I wouldn't be concrete about it all being a sham without verified evidence, for example (just as a note to a few PPs who say things with absolute certainty)
