Things you can't stand for no reason whatsoever?

I have a real aversion to silicone. For some reason the thought of it makes me feel like I'm going to throw up, I can honestly get to heaving point 🤢 I've no idea why, it's not the feel of it. I just can't stand the thought of it.

It's the same with bottle tops, like the screw bottle top on a bottle of coke. The tip is always so scratchy and it gives me shivers.

Anyone else have random things they cannot stand but can't really explain?

DH thinks I'm a freak 😂

Over-enthusiastic/earnest choirs who make manic smiley faces when they sing. Kids choirs are even worse. I know IABU.

People going on talent shows, especially if they’re giving some kind of sob story. I’m always so embarrassed for them.

Rocks with lots of holes in like pumice stones, hornet nests, honeycomb—anything with regular sets of holes. I can’t look at chia pudding for the same reason.

Bubble tea and frog spawn. Both disgusting.

IncorrigibleTitmouse · 31/12/2020 05:13

@lazyarse123 His face is weird, it’s way over-Botoxed and he’s done something bizarre to his eyebrows. I think that must be it. He looks like a mannequin to me and I’m outright scared of those!

HeronLanyon · 31/12/2020 05:16

The word ‘gummies’ seeing it on vitamin bottle or hearing it etc.
Figs.
Range Rovers

I feel actual, pure rage when the wire of my earphones catches on something, and yanks them out of my ears.

Bluewallpaperflowers · 31/12/2020 06:46

The phrase ‘you do you’

CatbearAmo · 31/12/2020 06:57

Cotton wool. Have absolutely none of it in the house. I'm actually scared of it. If I touch it, it makes me recoil and shudder. I get the same reaction to cotton wool as I do wasps: have to leave the room and have confirmation that it's gone so that I can go back in

Winterfairy23 · 31/12/2020 07:07

Pudsey Bear infuriates me.

Isitgiroday · 31/12/2020 07:47

Jamie Oliver
Polystyrene when it squeaks but I'd still rather rub it over my naked flesh than have to watch the above on anything.

Isitgiroday · 31/12/2020 07:49

@bloodyhairy haha yes!! Have now gone bluetooth - game changer!

lotusbell · 31/12/2020 08:00

@Winterfairy23, my favourite comment on this thread so far! Grin

Winterfairy23 · 31/12/2020 08:02

@lotusbell 😂 even as a child I hated him. I’ve always wanted to poke his other eye out.

SpeckledyHen · 31/12/2020 08:16

Pierced anything. Can’t stand the hole .

whatwouldjudydo · 31/12/2020 08:37

Polystyrene for me 🤢

sueelleker · 31/12/2020 09:04

@salsmum

False teeth... not good as I was always on the hunt for 'lost dentures' when I worked in a large, elderly care home. Blush
The fear of having to have false teeth is the only thing that keeps me going to the dentist regularly-I used to dry heave when my Mum took hers in or out.

@IncorrigibleTitmouse. It sounds like you have trypophobia

Opaljewel · 01/01/2021 18:45

Oh god where do I start?

I can't stand:

° Scraping cutlery on a plate.
°Rough wool or rough feeling items that look soft.
°Sets my teeth on edge at the thought of anyone chewing on wet wool like a wet jumper (yes I'm a freak)
° I don't like partner breathing on me when facing in bed. Is this just me?
° Really loud alarms like at work, they test them every week or any noise on tv that is meant to signal something is wrong like high pitched white noise. It sets off my tinnitus.

Sometimes I think I have slight sensory issues.

Opaljewel · 01/01/2021 18:55

Also long nails on a man (I don't mean like false nails on a man who dresses that way) I once saw an older man with long real nails working in a charity shop when I was younger. He was tapping the buttons on the till really weirdly as well. Like exaggerated flamboyant movements, it freaked me out so much at the time! or sticky out adams apple. Sorry guys!

YesPleaseMary · 01/01/2021 18:57

Many little holes close together in things.
The mere thought of my fingernail touching terracotta or wall plaster.
The big long seed thing inside honeydew melons.
My DH doing his Prince Charles voice, makes me want to cry and kill him. I have nothing against HRH though, or his voice.

I’m all full of heebie jeebies now.

YesPleaseMary · 01/01/2021 19:00

Oh and Nicholas Cage.

randomer · 01/01/2021 19:03

I'm sick to death of seeing your when you're is meant. FGS, WHY do you not know the difference? They are not interchangeable. IT MATTERS.
