hello,

what has been your experience when you have "missed" a delivery with hermes?

they apparently tried to deliver yesterday afternoon but I wasnt in (i was) and I didnt hear any knock on the door/saw noone. they said in an email they would try again the next day but nothing so far. I'm almost scared to ask but if you have missed a delivery with them when did you finally get your parcel?

it is over 200 pound the parcel they have and after reading some reviews I am really worried.

thanks!

My experience has always been great but we have had the same guy for years and hes an actual diamond in the world of Hermes drivers.

Whatwouldscullydo · 09/12/2020 16:55

I'm currently waiting on a parcel too. Was meant to he delivered Friday but wasn't.was then meant to be delivered Saturday but wasn't. Received email Saturday to say it would be delivered the next working day. Never showed Monday or Tuesday. Online chat bot has no further info other than what the email said Saturday.

It is not supposed to be arriving between 3 akd 5 today...
.they have 5 mins left.

We've had terrible experiences with Hermes this year - don't know what's happened to that company! Obviously some of their delivery people are great. But some, terrible.

UseOfWeapons · 09/12/2020 16:56

I’ve only ever had deliveries from them twice, both were epic fails, as far as I’m concerned.
First time, they said I wasn’t in (I was), left me a card saying it was behind the gate. However, they threw the parcel over my next door neighbour’s side gate, perhaps thinking it was mine. It isn’t. As my neighbours were away, I climbed over the gate to retrieve it. It was a coat, and too big. Rang the the company to reorder a smaller size, and specifically explained not to throw it over the gate.

Next delivery, I heard a van screech to halt outside the house, saw a card pop through the door, no knock, rush to the door, to see the drive hurling parcel over next door’s gate again. I shout for him, he ignores me and drives off.

I complain to the company, and to Hermes. Had grovelling apology via email.

Haven’t don’t business with either company since.

How annoying for you. I've also just had an issue with Hermes. I received an email with a tracking link for my parcel. There were no updates for about a week and then yesterday the status changed to "collection no longer required." I wasted a morning trying to get in touch with them, gave up and emailed the retailer who was equally surprised and annoyed that Hermes had decided to cancel collection. Anyway, she's sending it again by DPD and I'm relieved.

Oh and at the end of my fruitless attempts to sort it out on the Hermes website, a pop up appeared asking me to complete an online customer satisfaction survey. That I enjoyed. Doubt it will improve their customer service, but I felt better afterwards.

I could write a saga but it would be bad for my mental health. Good luck is all I can say. There is a Group of Hermes dissatisfied customers on facebook.

applesandpears33 · 09/12/2020 17:04

Our usual delivery driver is nice, but I have no confidence in their delivery chain. I had a problem with a parcel which turned up two months late after it had been lost in the system.

I often find their online tracking will say that a parcel has been delivered when it is in fact delivered the next day.

Whatwouldscullydo · 09/12/2020 17:04

Thr customer service number hangs up on u too

applesandpears33 · 09/12/2020 17:07

Yes, it is very, very difficult to speak to a human being who can help you with a missing parcel.

lljkk · 09/12/2020 17:12

Local Hermes delivery or collection is mostly a lady whose kids went to school with my kids. She has had to try multiple times a day to get a parcel to us (or collect one). Stellar. Cannot fault.

tabulahrasa · 09/12/2020 17:12

@cherrybunx0

urgh how annoying!

havent had anything today yet so not holding my breath...I dont understand why the need to lie though about attempting to deliver when they havent Confused would prefer them to be honest and say its been delayed or something! then wouldnt waste days on end sitting inside!

I can tell you why they put attempted delivery most times...

You have no clue how many parcels you’re going into in the morning - when it’s busy (which this time of year is anyway and then add in covid) you can literally have double your normal amount and you physically can’t get them out in a day.

You lose bonuses for just postponing it to another day, you don’t if you attempt delivery.

Because of the pay structure and technically being self employed, if you don’t get the bonuses you’re often making less than minimum wage...

Twinkie01 · 09/12/2020 17:17

I love Steve our super friendly reliable Hermes driver. Always on time, cheery and polite.

I do have some friends who don't share my Hermes love though.

Allergictoironing · 09/12/2020 17:31

An ex-boss of mine was deliberating changing to them from a mix of DPD and Royal Mail, until I pointed out that they were known locally as "My Herpes". It is very dependent on the individual driver - mine is fantastic, as is my DPD driver (both women in 30's - 40's)

notawittyname1954 · 09/12/2020 17:32

if it is something you've bought it is up to the retailer to sort it out and contact Hermes for you. They are responsible until the item reaches you so would be worth contacting them. They are usually pretty responsive. If it doesn't turn up.

BlankTimes · 09/12/2020 18:06

Our Hermes Delivery lady is fantastic. She's always cheerful even in miserable weather. She's been delivering here for several years now and I know that any delivery from Hermes will arrive safely and with a smile.

MustBeThin · 09/12/2020 18:15

Hermes should have delivered my parcel yesterday but it didn't go out for delivery until today. Was scheduled to arrive between 1-3pm, got past 3pm so I checked the tracking and it had been "delivered safely" 🤔 nobody had knocked on the door. I went outside and it was sitting in front of my front door for every tom, dick and Harry to see. If you are actually going to deliver it to the front door then why not make a bit more effort and knock. 🤷🏼‍♀️

MintCassis · 09/12/2020 18:52

In my experience if you miss the first delivery they try twice more (at the same time) then it gets returned.

I’ve had lots of successful deliveries from Hermes but the last one was put in the bin at the front of our house, which was clearly out on collection day, and they didn’t put a card through the door so we realised a few days later what had happened!

Piffle11 · 09/12/2020 18:59

I must be lucky, as every Hermes courier we’ve had has been great. However, I do find that some delivery companies say, ‘we tried to deliver, there was no answer’, when in fact they haven’t been at all, and have basically have ran out of time and have bumped your delivery to the next day. Years ago, I was expecting a delivery from John Lewis via Hermes. I received a notification saying they will try and deliver between 2pm and 5pm: didn’t turn up. When I checked the tracking, it said that they had attempted delivery, but no one had been home. It said they will try the next day. This happened several times… We tried delivery, no one at home – I had always been at home. It turned out that the reason I hadn’t received my delivery was that it was in a really large box, and the delivery driver they had assigned to their delivery did not have a van big enough for the box! So rather than letting me know what was actually going on, they simply kept saying on the tracking that they had attempted delivery and there had been no one available to sign for it. Massively frustrating.

LuaDipa · 09/12/2020 20:06

Our driver is pretty good, but he never comes at the allotted time, he is always early. I’m in most of the time at the minute so it makes no odds to me.

I’m unsure if it helps now that deliveries are contactless as he rings the doorbell and leaves the parcel on the front. He is often driving off as I get to the front door, but as I live in the middle of nowhere and my parcels are perfectly safe there I’m happy with that whether I am in or not.

JudyGemstone · 16/12/2020 18:36

Is anyone able to give me an actual number that gets through to an actual person? The one I've found is just an automated system that asks for the tracking number and tells me exactly the same as what's on the app.

They've had my daughters trainers since 28th November 'at the local depot', sender is saying they've lost it. Too late now to order a replacement before Xmas so am not happy! 🤨

FoxInABox · 16/12/2020 18:39

Has anyone found a way to actually speak to a human at Hermes? Phone line disconnects, chat is just a bot. Don’t answer on Twitter or Facebook. I’m waiting on a parcel that’s not had any updates in 7 days Angry

FoxInABox · 16/12/2020 18:40

@JudyGemstone just saw my post almost identical to yours, hopefully someone has a working number

Evasmissingletter · 16/12/2020 18:55

My Hermès guy is fantastic. Just given him £10 Xmas tip. He worked nonstop during COVID. Always got a smile. Everything I ordered delivered on time 😃
