Nodding off whilst working from home

Is this happening to anyone else?

I keep (and have a couple of times now) nodding off whilst working!

I am pregnant which I suspect has something to do with my tiredness levels but still... I'm really struggling to stay alert!

Yes, pregnant too but I was nodding off on my lunch breaks but to be fair to myself I wasn't sleeping at night so couldn't really help it. I was beyond exhausted 😴 have you had your iron levels checked? That might have something to do with it Thanks

I decided to get on the sofa under a duvet today to work because I feel rubbish and I just have easy tasks to do. Mistake! Was drifting off by 11 Grin

Didn't mean to leave voting on!

I keep thinking one of these days I'm going to drop off and be gone for an hour or so! I just can't get into it at all. I wish I were in the office.

I'm 33 weeks as well so not sleeping very well either and just generally knackered now.

I just can't be bothered anymore.

I have fallen asleep once during team meeting... in my defence, i’ve been working half through the night catching up on stuff.

When i was pregnant I used to have mini-kips in ladies... i remember the tiredness well!

God no, I'd be dead to the world 🤣. I was having all the windows open just to blast myself awake with cool air to keep my eyes open but it's too cold for that now.

Only place I can comfortably sit is the sofa with legs up on the foot stool which doesn't help.

Christmas lights and the tree looking all cosy, and the fact it's going dark early... It's a bad mix!

I’ve wfh for far longer than most. Those experts who say once an hour you need to get up and move around. They are correct. Set a timer even. Walk from one end of the house to the other, do some stretches, throw in a load of laundry, just do something for a couple of minutes.

I’m really bad about taking enough stretch breaks, so I ended up getting an under desk elliptical. You can pedal during meetings. It keeps your circulation up and keeps you alert.

firesong · 08/12/2020 16:17

Ah, pregnant! I did that with my first pregnancy but not the second. I was actually in the office too, very embarrassing

firesong · 08/12/2020 16:18

When does your mat leave start OP? Maybe you can move it forward!

In the next 2 weeks so I really don't have long to go! Still not sure I'll get anything remotely productive done in these two weeks mind..!

yes I have - but no more often than i felt myself drifting when i worked in an office.

AndcalloffChristmas · 08/12/2020 18:21

Are you able to take a scheduled break for a nap so you don’t have to just nod off?

adarkwhisperinthewoodwasheard · 08/12/2020 18:24

I sometimes WFB*. I'm not claiming those are my most productive days, but at least I'm well rested

BeautifulandWilfulandDead · 08/12/2020 18:32

When I was pregnant with DD I was teaching primary and sometimes had to take lunchtime power naps curled up in the book corner. 😂

Stepintochristmas2020 · 08/12/2020 18:52

I've been so busy from March to November I just had to keep going and going, I hardly had time to go to the toilet at times.

December has been quieter though and I am bored and could see how people would fall asleep if extremely tired. I have put on Netflix on my phone to keep me awake.

southernbelles · 08/12/2020 18:58

Yes ☹️☹️☹️ I am glad I'm not alone in this, it's become a real problem! I literally cannot stay awake & I'm not even pregnant, in fact I am more tired now than when I was pregnant! I have 2 jobs & I'm at the point where in the job where I work in the office, I spend my breaks sat in a loo cubicle sleeping 😔 I have to set my alarm so I don't go over my break. I can't get through the day otherwise. Today I was WFH & fell asleep for 2 hours, so I've worked extra to make up for it. I've had blood tests but nothing came up except I was on the lowish side for iron and vit D, but still within normal limits 🤷‍♀️ I'm struggling!

Lightwindows · 08/12/2020 19:05

I had a baby earlier this year and fell asleep in an online meeting towards the end of my pregnancy. Video was off so they couldn't see me so I think I got away with it! They never said anything anyway Grin. I don't know what you can do about it either, maybe have a nap on your lunch break? Or take a couple of half days off if you have some annual leave to rest. I really struggled with this at the end as well!

BeautifulandWilfulandDead · 08/12/2020 20:05

I once fell asleep in a meeting with my boss because I had jet lag. Not cool. I'm still not sure if he noticed!

ScrapThatThen · 08/12/2020 20:10

I had a nap in the clinic room once while pregnant and working in the NHS. Some adjustments when needs must are OK from time to time but not too often.

SpudsandGravy · 08/12/2020 20:27

I haven't nodded off yet, but the possibility must be on my mind because a couple of nights ago I dreamed that I nodded off in front of the computer and that when I woke up my manager was sitting right in front of me at the table in my house Shock
