Bastard fleas

Posting here for traffic. AIBU to please ask for recommendations to get rid of the twatting things? I called pest control, but they said that my animals would have to move out for 7 days. I have a cat, and I've defleaed her with Stronghold from the vet. I have some spray for the house, from the vet, and I've been hoovering and steaming. Washing bedding at 60. I have ordered some Indorex from Amazon. Anything else? It's not a massive infestation, but I see 2 to 3 jump on me a day, and my children have bites on them. It's freaking me out. Please help!

Thanks everyone. Just had one of the little twats jump on me on my way to the loo. Gah!

Indorex did it for us when my housemates cat had a horrible infestation from our rental. Took a few treatments alongside a heavy powerful hoover. And treat the cat often!

Tip for anyone using the pipettes, get a nose hair trimmer and shave a little line on the back of the neck so it's all going on skin.

blubberball · 08/12/2020 17:17

A bit of a weird update. Seen 1 flea early this morning, and nothing since. I've hoovered and steamed through again, and washed my bedding on 60, and put it through the dryer.

Come back from the shops this evening, go into the bathroom, and my ds has left the loo in a bit of a state. Get the loo brush to clean it, and there were about 5 dead fleas in the bottom of the loo brush holder. Wtf? What kind of self respecting fleas commit mass suicide in the bog brush holder?
At least they were dead, so I must be doing something right 🤷‍♀️

Can you move house? Disgusting things.

flaviaritt · 08/12/2020 17:21

...the loo brush to clean it, and there were about 5 dead fleas in the bottom of the loo brush holder.

That isn’t good news.

blubberball · 08/12/2020 17:21

Well, may be one day.

I changed from frontline to advantage a few months ago. Also bought a nit combe and combe the furry overlords every couple of days, seems to be working. Sure the little bastards will find a way round this though, the fleas not the furry overlords Grin

blubberball · 08/12/2020 18:02

Just found another one on my ds's bedroom floor. Hoovered and sprayed in there again. They are literally driving me mental. Hoovering 2 or 3 times a day, and sprayed inside the hoover bag. Can't wait for the Indorex to arrive!

darktriad · 08/12/2020 23:47

Advantage has finally sorted out our flea problem, the critters were jumping from the cats to my poor white dog, who was crawling with them. I comb her everyday too, but the cats are too difficult, hissing and biting - they don't appreciate being combed

PeppaPigOinkOinkOink · 08/12/2020 23:55

Indorex will be your saviour!

Thelnebriati · 09/12/2020 00:01

Look at sticky traps on amazon. You only need one or two, put them in each room for a day or two then move them.

Amicompletelyinsane · 09/12/2020 00:10

Let the pets go in all the rooms. People often shut the pets out but the fleas will die on contact with the pet that's treated. Also it can take up to 3 months before you get full control. So seeing the odd hatched one over the next weeks etc is to be expected

BigBaublesGalore · 09/12/2020 00:27

@Santaisironingwrappingpaper

Lots of shallow bowls filled with hot Fairy water. You will be shocked how many fleas love a bubble bath. Right before they drown. Under sofas and chairs. Behind curtains. Imagine you are a flea playing hide and seek! Update us tomorrow op!
Love this 😂
blubberball · 09/12/2020 16:26

The Indorex arrived today! Horray!

Flea report: 1 flea jumped on me this morning, and I later saw another one staggering around on the carpet in my ds's room. It didn't look very well, but I hoovered it up.

Sprayed the Indorex around. Hoping it does the trick. Fingers crossed.

Also been washing everything at 60 all day, and putting bedding through the dryer.

Santaisironingwrappingpaper · 09/12/2020 16:29

Empty hoover and wash filters!!

WankPuffins · 09/12/2020 16:34

We are suffering too.

I've spent £200 over the past two weeks. The house is still full of them. They love me Sad

blubberball · 09/12/2020 16:59

@WankPuffins (love the name btw) Did you get the Indorex? Supposed to be the best stuff to get.

OP posts:
skippetyskoo · 09/12/2020 17:00

Honestly, to all the people spending hundreds, get an expert in. Will be far cheaper overall!!

mumwon · 09/12/2020 17:02

we got carpet beetles once in old cottage - I went to old fashioned pet shop they gave me a spray 9they said it was the old type the vets use to use -I had touse mask to spray room - left room overnight (vacuumed bed mattress both sides & bed head & turned bed up side down to vacuum & walls skirting radiators & put all bedding in the wash & dried outside) - so far so good
However - when we went away & came back we found slug trails over rug in lounge - the rug was on top of wooden floor boards - anyone got any ideas how to stop them? (we tried wash powder & salt)

MisiSam · 09/12/2020 17:06

We had a flea problem in the summer, indorex was the only thing that worked and we had to do that once and then not hoover for a week and then spray the house again.

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 09/12/2020 17:12

Checking in for tips. We've been struggling for the past month or so. Got some Indorex and sprayed downstairs today. Also gave the cat more Advocate.
I so hope this works! I'm fed up of hoovering, washing, combing the cat over and over again. We keep thinking we've got on top of it and then it starts up again. Little fuckers, my legs are trashed!

WankPuffins · 09/12/2020 17:45

Yes, tried indorex.

Did it three times over a week.

Honestly they jump on the baby while I'm feeding her. Cat and rabbit are treated monthly.

It's actually making me depressed. I know that sounds pathetic.
