Or is it PA?

I mean every cocking weekend there’s a Grand Prix on in our house. And he hates Lewis Hamilton...
@Elsielouise13 I know!

My husband owns a motorsport company (not F1!!!!) so he is away quite a few weekends of the year for work. Because COVID stopped the racing happening his race season was also extended, which meant that our 'well timed' second pregnancy suddenly wasn't so well timed! Instead of one race after the birth there was 3! And the weekends he wasn't away I feel like the F1 was on so he was watching that!

I'm being flippant of course - the pregnancy wasn't 'timed' at all, it was just seemingly quite convenient when it happened!

This past weekend wasn't work for him - he was actually driving so it was a little more frustrating for me at home on my own. It's done now though! Until next season!
It is hard when working away is easier than being at home. In all fairness to my DH it’s usually me working away and him picking up the pieces on the home front.it’s all kids, animals, laundry...

This is a very tongue in cheek thread.

Well here we have gone straight from the admittedly quite exciting F1 to Liverpool v Wolves. Grin I am not a huge footy fan but quite pleased to see there's actual spectators today.

AdoptedBumpkin · 06/12/2020 19:38

Thing is, it will be funny for a week or two and then it will just be annoying.

Mustbe3ormorecharacters · 06/12/2020 19:49

I love F1 and LH I have a friend that hates him because he’s “not madly enough” and other dumb reasons. I always buy him expensive Lewis Hamilton gifts.

cretelover · 06/12/2020 20:38

We should have a thread for those of us here that love F1!

Maybe we should have a live thread during every race/qualifying.. 🤔

@Sparklingbrook

There's only one more race next week then that's it until March...
Sad

Those cardboard cut outs are really expensive. Is there anyone else?

It's the VAT that really drives up the basic cost - any chance you can find a way not to have to pay it?

blahblahblaaa · 07/12/2020 05:58

he went away racing on Thursday and got back last night - two whole nights in a hotel by himself....whilst I'm home with a five year old and 3 month old....and then today he didn't do much all day and then says he's 'going upstairs to watch the F1....'

That's not even funny. I actually despair at some of the men women marry.

BlueFringe · 07/12/2020 06:07

@Elsielouise13 you’re missing a trick here. I’m a fellow F1 sufferer and I’ve long since discovered that the sound of the engines going round and round are the perfect Sunday afternoon lullaby for a cracking nap. I can feel the noise pulling my eyelids down. Feet up, cushions well positioned and doze away. If he wakes you be sure to talk over the race for 30 mins to ensure he won’t wake you again Grin

sergeilavrov · 07/12/2020 06:20

I once gifted my best friend a life size cardboard cut out of me when he went to a different school for his PhD. He kept it in his living room for five years Grin get one of you done, and sneak out for that day at a hotel and hopefully with the F1 on he won’t notice!

OrraBoralis · 07/12/2020 09:21

I love F1 and have done since the 80's but not a huge Lewis fan. My DS was actually saying the other day that Amazon had 50% off F1 merchandise for Black Friday and he was going to get me a Lewis Hamilton related gift and I would have to keep it because he gave it to me and I loved him and never threw away any of his gifts Grin DS is 26, I called him an evil genius Smile

GrouchyKiwi · 07/12/2020 09:26

I love F1 and Lewis so please send the cutout to me? Will get me through the months of no races. I'll put a Santa hat on him.

PP's suggestion of a lifesized you is grand.

ImNotMeImSomeoneElse · 17/12/2020 15:46

So I've got great news for some of us on this thread!

(not so great news for op though. Sorry op...)

Next year will be the longest F1 season ever.

I’m with your dh , Hamilton is a nob

Fluffybutter · 17/12/2020 15:55

I have tickets for the British grand prix next year and I’m going with Hamilton fans so should be interesting...

letsnotscaretheneighbours · 17/12/2020 15:58

Well I love F1. I think LH is a great driver but should stick to just that.

Anyway, I think ywbvu not to get a life size cardboard cut out and have it as guest of honour for Christmas Dinner frankly Grin

I bought them a few years ago for OH's birthday, because of the speeds involved we finished up following it on our phones, it's all just a blur though the noise and the atmosphere were fantastic. I always remember my brother going to the TT races in the Isle of Man, he beought back a couple of rolls of film, all of his favourite rider, Agostini I think. When I developed the film, it was soooooo long ago, all the photos showed was a tree and a blur as he rode by, panning wasn't in bro's vocabulary.
elliejjtiny · 17/12/2020 16:14

You should try living in our house. 12 year old ds loves f1 and the repeats or old videos on YouTube are on whenever he has control of the remote. He's been self isolating for the past 2 weeks and I have learned way more about f1 than I ever wanted to. He would love a cardboard lewis Hamilton

Fluffybutter · 17/12/2020 16:25

@hansgrueber
Ha ! I’ll try not to make that mistake !
Have been to many motorsport events but never the Gp so really looking forward to it after it was cancelled this year .
We got the tickets for bil’s 50th as he and dh used to go to the German gp most years .

ImNotMeImSomeoneElse · 17/12/2020 17:08

I think LH is a great driver but should stick to just that

Why should he 'stick to just that'?

Is it not okay to be involved in social, political and humanitarian issues that directly affect you if you also have a job that isn't directly related? Or do you mean he shouldn't have any interests like design and music?

Does the same rule apply to the rest of us? We shouldn't work and have other interests?

CakeRequired · 17/12/2020 19:38

Lewis is a twat, agreed with your husband on not liking him. Still not forgiven him for trying to say the stewards are racist and that's why he kept getting penalised every other race one year. No it kept happening because you were breaking rules and hitting people. The same as would happen to anyone else. Then on top of that he spouts off about saving the planet etc etc while flying in his private jet. Not a fan. Angry

But I do like the fact a 22 year old did just as well as him in his own car. Proves its the car, not him. Any year he's had a shoddy car, all he's done is whine and complain, unlike Schumacher who still beat everyone with a worse car. Wouldn't be surprised if Mercedes messed up the pit stop on purpose.

But f1 is crap now, it's the Lewis Hamilton show only, plus the cars sound awful now, too many rules and regulations, it's just boring. Gave up a few years ago watching it every race.
