Covid Passport

Inspired by a mask discrimination thread it made me wonder what the legalities might be if the Governments of the world decided that you could only enter the country if you had, for example, a photo COVID-19 passport proving you had been vaccinated. Also, to extrapolate that out to giving individual businesses the right to refuse access to anyone not in possession of one.
AIBU - No that's discrimination
AINBU - Seems fair, many countries don't allow children into schools that haven't been vaccinated so it's the same on a bigger scale.

@BluebellsGreenbells

You can choose not to be vaccinated, and stay home.
You have been brainwashed by the gov't.

It's:

Stay AT home!

SnackSizeRaisin · 05/12/2020 20:34

But can people who can't be vaccinated against yellow fever for medical reasons gain entry to those countries?

Well you just need the certificate so I'm sure you could get one fraudulently if you were desperate. Plus it's not usually checked anyway so you could probably get away with it. But no, countries are allowed to discriminate in whatever way they like - they usually only let rich people in for a start.

The NHS does not require staff to have any vaccinations. The only mechanism for treatment without consent in this country is for medically essential treatment when under a section of the mental health act or best interests decision when lacking capacity

Lockheart and bungleandgeorge, excellent points especially contraindications as a why people couldn't have the vaccine. Surely it could be argued that religious reasons are no more valid than Facebook videos as a reason not to. I think government ideology towards compulsion in vaccination is going to go in some interesting legal directions over the next couple of years.

Thing is, other countries can do whatever they want, if they want to insist on covid vaccination certificates, they can. They can ban whoever they want, for whatever reason they want, they can ban anyone with red hair if they want, what are we going do about, go to war with them.

BungleandGeorge · 05/12/2020 23:29

It’s an interesting question; should you be allowed to decline a vaccination for your child if the disease is potentially life threatening?

BluebellsGreenbells · 05/12/2020 23:42

Under 16’s aren’t being vaccinated
