Be furious with sister breaking isolation

Sister was contacted by her child's nursery and told to self isolate due to being them being in contact with someone positive. Been told to isolate 10 days. Her husband has already been out to buy something at the shops. Today she posted a pic of her child going out for a walk.
It's so selfish! Yes they don't have symptoms but they ask you to stay at home for 10 days because of the incubation period. I just think they are being so selfish.
Aibu to be angry?

Your a good sister and auntie ! God!! a walk in the park won’t do any harm!

blackpoolsneighbour · 04/12/2020 22:14

@Peanutbutterjelly10

All of them have been told to stay at home. Yes they knew they have to stay at home.
If the child has been in close contact then it's only the child who has to stay at home, an adult obviously will need to be home with the child but they can go out themselves.

The rules are insane.
People, wake up to this abuse by the government.

I don't get that. Because surely say you had to scan into work for test and trace and someone was positive then they'd contact you. But yet its only restaurants etc that strike you with covid apparently 🤔 Stop the world I want to get off
How many workplaces are there were staff are expected to scan for 'test and trace'?

I'm in education and I'm on my second 14 day isolation since mid November one day apart! (Despite the cases being in separate classrooms but classed as the same bubble)
You cannot leave the house except for a medical emergency. It's bonkers especially for school cases

Tigerbalmtonic · 04/12/2020 22:43

I work in a nursery and tested positive for covid this week. Despite passing on all the info to track and trace, its been business as usual at the nursery. The only person isolating is me and they've even tried to tell me if I feel ok, I can return to work before my isolation period ends.

HildegardeCrowe · 04/12/2020 22:47

I think you should call the police 🤪

Givemeabreak88 · 04/12/2020 23:04

I thought it was 2 weeks? We’ve been told to isolate for 2 weeks not 10 days

saraclara · 04/12/2020 23:10

Only the child has to isolate. Unless your sister spoke to the person with Covid for 15 minutes or within 1m of the person, then she doesn't need to. Her DH certainly doesn't.

Comefromaway · 04/12/2020 23:15

It’s two weeks from when you last had contact with the person. There may be a delay between that day and the positive test result hence the shorter isolation time.

Layladylay234 · 04/12/2020 23:16

So, next year, when this all starts to calm down, what are you going to find to wring your hands about and feel superior about then?

Writerandreader · 04/12/2020 23:18

Can we all just agree that taking a toddler for some fresh air does not need to be a crime in any circumstances whatsoever.

It's clearly detrimental to public health and child health in particular to make a child stay indoors for two weeks

LoveMyKidsAndCats · 04/12/2020 23:24

Only the child OP. I agree its dumb.

cali2000 · 04/12/2020 23:33

Stop being furious -

saraclara · 04/12/2020 23:52

You clearly don't have the full and accurate details OP. For starters you said they'd ALL been told to isolate. That really isn't the case now, is it? Unless DH was also in nursery that day spending 15 minutes with the adult, then he doesn't need to isolate. And I'm still not convinced by a long way, that your sister does.

You weren't at the end of the phone when your sister got that call, so you seem to be filling the gaps with your own inaccurate speculation.

Norah8 · 04/12/2020 23:55

it's 14 days to isolate on case of infection and 10 if you have COVID.
just the child.has to self isolate not the parents
