My dad has been in a lot of pain for two weeks. First day was sudden and acute onset followed by vomiting. Pain has persisted, no more vomiting and no fever and able to pass stools so no blockage - but his stools are pale and urine dark which are signs of gallbladder issues. Has anyone experience of gallbladder issues ?

GP requested a blood draw appt but didn’t list it as urgent so they’ve given him an appt 14 days away. I don’t know how long the blood results will take to get back either.

Is this normal??? It seems an excessively casual approach. I am considering speaking to the practice manager but I’m willing to be told I’m wrong.

"Don't count on it, my GP and the local A&E turned DP away after he turned yellow.

I had intermittent pain which i dismissed as trapped wind. Pain became debilitating one day and i was rushed to hospital. Had pancreatitis caused by trapped gallstones. Mines did free itself however they monitored the pancreatitis which had subsided and allowed me home but i had to return a week later for gallbladder removal. If he gets chronic pain again phone the ambulance. Good luck i hope hes okFlowers

@wrigglepigg yes a gallstone can pass through the ducts and process itself out. But there's usually more than one. He's jaundice because his liver is having to work extra hard to clear the bilirubin levels. And he needs to be careful this doesn't lead to pancreatitis (if a stone gets in there or infection) which can be fatal left untreated.

My gallbladder came out in September after acute onset end of august. Went to a and e, in hospital for 5 days to stabilise, 2 weeks at home then surgery.

If the pain comes back sever, he should go straight to A and E. are you sure was being totally honest with the GP about his condition?
