Aibu to hate having my period! San Pro advice needed

After over 20 years of having a period you would think I'd be used to them but I hate it!!
Can anyone advise me on things to try apart from the moon Cup.
I have 2 problems. Firstly, I prefer to use tampons. Much easier to cope with for me. But.... I can't take one out then put another in straight away because I'm too dry. I have to wait at least 30 minutes for another flow of blood. Does this happen to other people? It's frustrating if I'm out etc because since having kids mine comes in gushes and I flood alot wearing pads.

This leads to my second problem. Im a large lady with a big bum so I think this is partly why I have a problem as I have a large area for a pad to cover . If/when I need to wear pads (particularly overnight) I wear the night time versions as they are the longest. But many, many times if I'm sitting or lying down, the blood will travel either forwards or backwards and can completely miss the pad!! At night I wear two pads, one that goes up to the front of my pants, and one that goes most of the way up the back of my pants. And the blood still misses them regularly! My bedding and clothes are ruined again this month!
Any advice? I would try the period pants / period underwear but they don't do them in my size.
@naamechange I have vaginismus too 😩 No fun eh.
Not at all fun, it’s awful isn’t it Flowers

Have you been able to overcome it at all ? Gynaecology were terrible (saw them for another issue) - he said I should try and force it and I’d learn to enjoy sex eventually .

GP a few years ago did give some pointers on sex without penetration and stuff - suggested buying trainer/dilators - but it’s a huge issue for me ... tampons are just the beginning sadly .

I was on the pill for 10 years, came off to have my children. Asked to go back on after but I'm too fat to be allowed to go back on it according to my gp.
My period itself isn't too bad and only lasts for 3 days & I don't get cramps either. I do suffer from pmt & sore boobs buts bareable.
The pants are on the way, I shall try them and update on how it went!

WUKA period pants have the biggest absorbent area of all the pants I have tried.

GreyishDays · 03/12/2020 17:40

@bridgetjonesmassivepants

Husband is a GP and he says there are no issues.
Interesting. Maybe things are a bit different than when I was told that. I was told I’d need bone density scans Shock

I'd have thought being on the Pill did the opposite of thinning the bones, as HRT is given to women, among other things, to help to avoid osteoporosis.

As well as period pants, cloth sanitary pads would work well. They do large sizes. You could use the two in combination if needed

ChateauMargaux · 03/12/2020 19:19

You might find that using washable sanitary wear reduces the pain and flow. Many women do when switching from tampons.

Why not try cerazette? I haven’t had a period for 11 years, I hated them too and it’s been a dream. Doesn’t work for everyone but maybe something to think about/ discuss with GP.

I’m currently 1 week postpartum and wondering if anyone can recommend any reusable pads liners for me to try there’s so many on Amazon but I’m worried about the material as I think a lot of the stuff is made in China is it genuinely organic material 🤔 the maternity mass are so so uncomfortable with the stitches and there making me sore 😞

floweretcup.com/collections/period-underwear

They go up to a 6xl which is about a 28. I ordered some a few weeks ago and they fit me and I'm 24-26 atm.

Dunno how good they are but they're worth a try?

No advice wrt tampons etc, but with my excessively heavy periods at night I wear a Tena night time pad, with an ordinary night time pad on top...and a super plus tampon. The Tena night time pads are much wider and larger than a sanitary pad.
