Mrs Thatcher would never have been. Unacceptable when you don't have long to travel, and have called the conference yourself.

Better to turn up late and give us the right information, than rush it and be unprepared.

But most of what he says is lies, so that can't be used as an excuse.

@oiwotaluvlyday I agree we are a laughing stock abroad. The main reason that when I am abroad I do my utmost to avoid being identified as British.

I doubt it. Mrs Thatcher was a stickler for punctuality, one of the few things where I agreed with her.
