to be a little miffed that a neighbour took a photo of me getting out of the bath

The other evening i had a bath with DD (2.2) and i got out of the bath to get dry, i was messing around with DD and doing flippy floppy scarecrwo (so must have looked hysterical!) I noticed a flash, and am pretty sure it came from someone over the back - i could see movement in their room but it was dark, i called DP and by the time he got there they had turned their light on.

I just gave them the finger, in a way of saying, oi - i konw what you just did.

We have a crappy venetian blind up just now that is a bit broke and can probably see straight through it . We havent got round to replacing as we are going to be doing building work in that room. Was quite to be honest. I know i should get a blind, so dont waste your time with YABU get a blind - i know

OMG - do you know who it was? Not bloody surprised you were angry, what a nasty and perverted thing to do!!

Saturn74 · 20/10/2007 15:30

How worrying.
Do you know this neighbour?
As you have no proof, there is little you can do.
But I'd be unhappy with my children bathing in a room without curtains or a blind.

3Ddonut · 20/10/2007 15:35

YANBU that's awful, I would keep an eye on their behaviour and record what they are up to, very unsettling.

That's terrible! i think i would get my dh to go round the houses under suspicion and say 'I just thought I should warn you that we have a peeping tom in the neighbourhood as someone took a picture of my wife in the bath. I have spoken to the police and they say if any of us see anything suspicous we should phone them immediately. Perhaps you could warn any other women in your household as well.'
That might put the wind up them and at least ensure it doesn't happen again.

bran · 20/10/2007 15:57

Are you sure that's what they were doing? Could they have been doing something else, for instance photographing something within their room. They could even have had a bulb blow when they turned the light on which could look like a flash.

I just think it would be difficult to take a photo through two windows with a flash as the reflection of the flash on glass would cause too much glare to be able to see much.

kindersurprise · 20/10/2007 15:59

That is terrible, no yanbu, even if you do not have a decent blind, there is no excuse for taking photos. What a pervert.

And can I just say, that I did have to smile a bit at the Britishness of your OP "to be a little miffed..." Good understatement!

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 20/10/2007 15:59

He/she was probably taking a pic to list something on ebay. Well even if they weren't there is nothing you can do about it now so don't upset yourself. And even if they were taking a pic of you it probably didn't come out because of the glass and the blinds ect. Are there teenage boys in the house, it could have been kids messing.
I do feel for you though, it is exactly the type of thing I'd do.

talulasmum · 20/10/2007 16:30

lem.
are you sure?

lucyellensmum · 20/10/2007 17:08

TM no i'm not sure, thats the point. I mean why would anyone want a picture of my enourmous breasts - hmmmm, put it like that But i agree with bran, i would have thought almost impossible, not even sure if the angle would allow - hey ho.

You're being paranoid.

lucyellensmum · 20/10/2007 17:15

not sure if paranoid is the right word - vain maybe???

To be honest im not bothered but you have to start a AIBU thread with to be miffed, angry etc or anything appropriate.

I didnt think AIBU to be indifferent to the amateur photographer taking artistic snaps of my breasts was the right wat to open the thread but then again

Maybe they're compiling a diary for a complaint to the council about their naturist neighbours!

Why would you assume that a flash is someone taking a photo of you in your bathroom from their house?? And be "sure" enough that you'd be angry and make rude gestures at them.

ADragonIs4LifeNotJustHalloween · 20/10/2007 17:24

I took a lot of my Lego Diorama photos at night - I hope my neighbours didn't think I was talking rudey nudey photos of them.

lem;
no, i meant are you sure you were dancing to

flippy floppy scarecrow?

could it of been something else?

TrickORTripletEm · 20/10/2007 19:45

If you are certain and it happens again,go straight round afterwards, knock on the door and say very loudly "Please can I have a copy of the photo that you have just taken of me?"

Should stop itespecially if its a bloke that has a DP!!!!!!!

lucyellensmum · 21/10/2007 11:07

thanks everyone, for pissing on my bonfire!!!! There was i thinking my body was so stunning the neighbours were queuing to get pictures and now it seems they were more interested in their train sets!

TM and HC: I did wonder if the flippy floppy dance looked like some sort of ritualistic lap dance from where they were standing.
