To ask if you have used invisalign? (Or similar aligners?)

And if so, what did you think? Was it money well spent?
I HATE my teeth, they're crooked and awful! I need to do something about it and have just started looking into aligners.
My gums have started to recede, and that worries me!
Would I even be a good candidate with gum recession Confused

I was nervous to open this as I'm just about to be fitted with mine and didn't want to read anything negative!
I can't wait, I'm 41 and there are no photos of me smiling that I like. Wish I'd done this years ago.
It's cost me 2200 with a similar brand to invisalign through a private orthodontist

Use a specialist mouthwash for gum health, invest in a waterpick and some of the little brushes you stick between your teeth and some floss and be religious about it. It makes a huge difference.

Wearing my braces at night really helped my gums as grinding my teeth was causing little pockets around my teeth where bits could get trapped.

@Goingdooolally

My orthodontist (not Invisalign) also evened out my front teeth with some white stuff(!) and did other remedial work. It’s not just about the straightening. I wish I’d seen him first rather than go for the Invisalign.
How do you go about seeing a orthodontist? Sorry if I sound stupid but I thought you had to be referred to one?
Goingdooolally · 02/12/2020 20:25

@Elfieishere my dentist does orthodontistry too.

At the end of my Invisalign I’m also having whitening, composite bonding (to fill in two teeth that are chipped) and contouring (filing down bottom incisors to give a straighter edge). Although my teeth are pretty well aligned now, they still don’t look great due to the edges not being smooth and straight. So I think this will help a lot - but it’s all extra money (£500).

Worth being aware that Invisalign may not give you perfect alignment - and that perfect alignment is only one aspect of good looking teeth.
