Pointless Parking Rant, no diagram ...

Besswess88 · 01/12/2020 17:14

Next door moved in 2 weeks ago.

They have a driveway and we have on street parking outside our houses. They have two cars I have one (husband works away). Parking is an “issue” as not many people have ORP and there are multiple car users in most houses. My husbands car was broken into a few weeks ago so it makes me feel better to have the house directly outside my house and let’s face it most people would like to be able to do that.

Every single night since they have moved in they (clearly get back before me) they have parked outside their house and my house leaving their drive free and making me park elsewhere.

Last night I got back first and parked outside my own house and they then parked outside theirs and over their driveway. I popped out later and they had moved the drive covering car to outside my house. I just wonder WHY?!

And it’s really irrationally enraging me as I just have once measley car and there is room for all three and they are being so inconsiderate.

Do I have to go round and ask nicely (I did move my car on moving day so they could park the van there 🤣) or put a little note through the door asking if they would mind leaving me a space please, where possible.

The car directly outside the house sorry ...

You're correct it's pointless with no diagram.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 01/12/2020 17:17

Park across their drive. I believe it is legal if the driveway is empty.

Nottherealslimshady · 01/12/2020 17:17

Go speak to them? Nicely. Yes legally they can park anywhere but they know full well they're blocking you and are being CFs

Besswess88 · 01/12/2020 17:18

🤣🤣

I did park across the drive once but mostly I can’t squeeze in by the time I get home there is loads of room the time they get home (as we arrived the same time yday).

Nottherealslimshady · 01/12/2020 17:20

Or just park on their driveway. Its perfectly legal.

Besswess88 · 01/12/2020 17:21

Now I wish I had the front to park on their driveway 🤣

Nottherealslimshady · 01/12/2020 17:21

You can't park over a dropped kerb so you cant block their driveway, even if theres no car. But legally you can park on their driveway.

nosswith · 01/12/2020 17:22

Please talk to them. Not leave notes.

Besswess88 · 01/12/2020 17:22

If I park over their driveway I am happy for them to come and ask me to move and explain why on earth they can’t park there.

WhereverIGoddamnLike · 01/12/2020 17:24

Ask them if you can use their driveway since they wont and they keep parking outside your house so you end up having to drive around looking for a space.

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 01/12/2020 17:26

Can they get both cars on their drive?

They just can't be arsed to move on car in order to get the other one off the drive.

I would knock and ask politely if they could put one of their cars in the drive.

I hate people who go out and move a car to bags a space. Once you are parked, just stay parked, fgs.

RincewindsHat · 01/12/2020 17:28

They are arseholes, nip this in the bud before it goes on any longer. They are behaving like idiots, and they know it. There is no excuse for that level of twatty behaviour! (Yes, I know, no righ tot park outside your house on public street etc, but come on.)

Besswess88 · 01/12/2020 17:31

They can fit one car on the drive or just over it (they are leaving a gap). If they closed the gap and covered the drive I could fit my car just on the end.

DP's parents (and sister who lives there) leave their cars on the street, even though they have an enormous driveway. They can't be bothered reversing in/out. It pisses me off no end, even though I don't live there. In fact it's a phenomenon I've noticed in their street - loads of people do it.

I think you should speak to your neighbour directly, so that they don't have time to come up with some ridiculous excuse for the fact that they are probably just lazy, selfish so and so's.

donquixotedelamancha · 01/12/2020 19:18

What the fuck has gotten into MN tonight? At least 9 of the first 50 posts on a parking thread are supposed to be describing gradually more insane things to write on the notes and what glue will be hardest to remove. Go to Netmums if you want to suggest talking like a normal person.

That's more like it :-)

I was going to pop the note through the door.

Oh thank God, back to normal.

Besswess88 · 01/12/2020 19:33

I think parking on their driveway would be fucking hilarious 🤣🤣

OP posts:
DontTouchTheMoustache · 01/12/2020 19:36

They might not feel confident driving in or out of the drive if it's a busy road? If you spoke to them they might let you park on the drive if thats why

nocoolnamesleft · 01/12/2020 19:48

Fit penguin bollards so they can't park on their drive.

Besswess88 · 01/12/2020 19:50

🤣🤣

OP posts:
Besswess88 · 01/12/2020 19:51

No I need the bollards in “my” space
