Posting here for traffic. Have been through his hair morning and night yesterday with the treatment but have seen more in his hair this am!

Using Full Marks and a nit comb.

Actually very stressed about this. Feel so terrible that I haven't got rid of them. Feel like a crap mother! Trying not to let him see it bothers me too.

Sounds like a ridiculous first world problem, I know!

Any advice gratefully received!

Thanks all

Thank you all! Really appreciate all advice. Have read right through. Have ordered a nitty gritty comb from amazon. Am currently using the one that came with the full marks lotion. Ds currently sat with conditioner on. Have checked his hair again and just a few eggs. No live ones, will comb through again in a while. So much better than yesterday.

Hedrin. Much less fuss, and actually works, plus leaves your hair nice and soft

Hedrin once then comb everyday for two weeks and retreat and comb again for another week. I ended up shaving my boys head after first treatment lol

Your going to need to keep combing and nitty gritty are fab.

Please don’t put listerine or vodka on your child’s head.

Hedrin overnight, wash & comb out in the morning. Wash all bedding, coats, hats. Repeat in a week. It’s the repeat that does the trick, one treatment is never enough.

For all those saying don't shave his head - why not?

We did this when DS got them. Obviously we asked if he was ok with us doing this (I'm not suggesting you pin down a child and shave their head if they don't want you to) and explained it would be much easier, faster and more comfortable to comb out the lice and eggs with very short hair.

He was more than happy for us to do it, especially as he has very thick hair.

That aside we used a nitty gritty every day for two weeks with conditioner and worked really methodically through his hair in sections.

Other parents who seemed to struggle to get rid I found simply weren't being methodical enough in their combing nor doing it frequently enough. You've got to keep regularly combing through the full life cycle. What some people thought were "reinfections" were simply eggs they'd missed hatching.
