I think I probably am.
We live very close to Lapland UK. I am in a "Lapland UK fans" group on Facebook as was thinking about booking tickets.
Lots of chat on the group about will tickets be cancelled if you are coming from a tier 3 area, Lapland UK have emailed all customers saying if you live in tier 3 then you should follow the travel guidance. The guidance states you should not travel unless there is a specific reason - visiting an attraction is not one of them. (There is a section talking about visiting attractions but that is within your own area not the other side of the UK)
Most of people discussing on said Facebook group are saying they are from tier 3 areas and they are going anyway whilst discussing which hotels they are staying in locally, visiting other local attraction, pub and restaurant recommendations etc. Which is all against the guidance.
Now AIBU to think this is batshit. How on earth can anyone think it's reasonable, in some cases to travel to the other side of the country, stay in hotels etc whilst knowing the numbers in your area are high. Lapland UK is in a tier two area, and numbers are slowly decreasing ... surely this is going to cause a huge spread and mean that the local area is pushed into tier 3 restrictions?
Before anyone asks I'm not saying tier three people should be locked in their own towns and all this T3 V T2 shite. I'm just asking if I am being unreasonable that people should travel against specific government guidance - the argument is it's not law.
I feel sad that people would have to cancel their trip and it's insanely expensive (which Lapland UK has offered to refund), but everyone has had to make sacrifices.
I suppose most at fault is Lapland UK for allowing this to continue, they have everyone's address to post invites so they would know who is/ isn't in tier 3. They originally said tier 3 visitors would be cancelled but as half the UK is in tier 3 they have now decided otherwise... I suppose the £££ they would lose having to refund is the driving force of that decision.
Argh. I just don't want to be locked in again.
