I have an asd 2 year old and a baby with allergies so I’m cutting out a lot of foods to breastfeed.
I’m exhausted
I can’t leave then for a second to get a drink or go for a wee as toddler will hurt the baby and I can’t take baby as can’t leave him alone as he does stupid things and might get hurt
I’m exhausted I want a day off just one day

We had a travel cot when dc was tiny to keep them safe from rampaging toddler... Moses basket inside!!

He will throw things or tip it I’m a nervous wreck she will get hurt so I can’t relax for a minute. I have a carrier but it’s hard as it is all the time I just want to sit down and she’s become clingy as I’ve never been able to put her down plus she can’t sleep as he will scream

Make toddlers room a safe room with stair gate on door. Then you can pop toddler in while you need to do go to the loo. I used to leave one in the sitting room in playpen put baby in another room in travel cot. Then go and wee. It's tough

Waveysnail · 30/11/2020 11:25

Also making toddlers room a safe room can give you 5/10min break if you are ready to snap

Waveysnail · 30/11/2020 11:26

You could also look at sen daycare if things gets very tough to give yourself a break a couple of morning a week.

formerbabe · 30/11/2020 11:48

Would your two year old sit in a high chair for ten minutes or so in front of kids tv while you pop to the loo, get dressed, eat something?

Baby in cot or playpen?

formerbabe · 30/11/2020 11:51

she’s become clingy as I’ve never been able to put her down

Honestly if you need a couple of minutes, and she's safe in a cot, that's fine. Needs must. I know it's awful when they're screaming but as long as they're safe, a couple of minutes crying while you go to the loo or make yourself a cuppa really won't hurt.

ImNotAhotel · 30/11/2020 12:27

He had to stop using the high chair as he would get really severe cramp in his legs and pins and needles in his feet he will however happily sit in the baby’s bouncy chair 😬
I think I just need 5 minutes sometimes but he can’t be left alone I used to have a playpen I’m wondering if I should use that again and put some new toys in there just to be able to know he’s safe and that the baby is safe.
I feel like as well I can’t keep my house tidy and that affects my mental health
I will have a look at those truffles because as silly as it sounds I used to use chocolate as a way to cope and I can’t now and i feel like I’ve lost something that helped me get through the day

It's really hard having two so young. I'm sure you're doing a great job you just need some mum hacks to help you through the day. A play pen sounds a really good idea for your toddler when you have to leave the room. It's ok to let him cry for a few mins when you need to go to the loo or get something done. As long as him and the baby are safe it's ok. For you, how about having a selection of snacks in a basket or something in the room with you and the kids and also water bottles for you and your toddler. I also find less is more when it comes to toys and the less stuff you have the easier it is to put it away once your done with it. I like to look on you tube for stay at home mum routines too for insiration. Good luck, you'll work it out xx

I think a playpen would be fine..any chance of any nursery time?

BoudiccaD · 30/11/2020 12:51
