Hayfever

It's November, I should NOT be suffering from hideous hayfever.

It's the worst it's been all year, I'm now eyeing all trees with suspicion and an axe. Can I blame global warming?

* I’ve noticed that the Zoe covid app checklist includes“Increase in your usual allergy symptoms” and “sneezing more than usual”*

What does that mean?

Have attached screen shots from the c19 Covid study app. It asks you to report daily. And if you aren’t feeling right, this is the checklist. I thought it was interesting that they included out of usual allergy symptoms as that is what I’m experiencing.

I should add that when i ticked the sneezing and allergy symptoms alone (no other symptoms) they asked me to take a Covid test.
It came back negative

It's definitely hayfever as antihistamines help, it must be bad as my eyes are swelling and I've not had hayfever with that since I was a child.

Luckily we always have antihistamines as I often suffer with it but not usually this time of year!

I have to take antihistamines all year now.
Its so irritating! xx

Sunbird24 · 30/11/2020 12:14

All the hay fever sufferers in this house doing really badly today as well! (Somerset, so pretty rural and lots of trees etc)

HulaHoop2012 · 30/11/2020 21:25

Do you wear contacts or spend a lot of time looking at a screen. I thought my allergies were really bad, hay fever was horrendous during the summer and just never stopped.

Went to the opticians and have Blepharitis and really dry eyes. Some eye drops and eyes are so much better. Honestly felt like hay fever and I was popping antihistamines regularly.

APJ1 · 30/11/2020 23:50

Same here. It's actually the first time I've ever had hayfever. I always presumed you either started suffering from it from a reasonably young age or not at all.

bluesky3 · 01/12/2020 00:25

It could be dust mite allergy as this is the time of year for it

Tomnooktoldmeto · 01/12/2020 07:43

Dust mite allergy is perennial rhinitis as in all year not seasonal Bluesky3

Ilovesugar · 01/12/2020 07:55

Are you sure it’s hay fever? Dust mite allergies get worst in the winter months

Helendee · 01/12/2020 15:52

It’s moulds. I have suffered at this time of year for decades with it. It does seem worse this year though.

Fairyliz · 01/12/2020 15:55

I’m another one who always suffers more at this time of the year, so I think it mould/dust mites.

FromTheAllotment · 01/12/2020 16:06

Ha glad it’s not just me. I bravely thought last week that surely it was cold enough to stop taking my antihistamines. Nope!!!! Back on them for the foreseeable!

FromTheAllotment · 01/12/2020 16:11

OMG, the Worcester website is fascinating! Thank you for that!

Palavah · 01/12/2020 16:14

I was just wondering why my eyes were itching after a walk in the park...

This is also a time of year for hyacinths which are lovely but make me want to scratch my eyes out - do you have any blooming bulbs?

bluesky3 · 01/12/2020 18:46

My sons allergy consultant says that this is the worst time of year for dust mites.

emmathedilemma · 01/12/2020 19:15

I took antihistamines last night as the sneezing and itchy eyes got so bad. I had a bad spell at weekend too. I'm sure I've never suffered like this so late in the year before!

spoonrace · 01/12/2020 19:56

I didn't know dust mites had a time they were worse. I've been getting hay fever at night/early morning - I sleep with the window open, so I guess it's either mould or dust mites.

FlorenceandtheWashingMachine · 04/12/2020 09:43

I was so desperate yesterday that I paid £12 for a nasal spray. I woke up with a clear head for the first time in months. It's called Beco Defence Plus.

Tomnooktoldmeto · 04/12/2020 10:11

I have to use a steroid nasal spray and antihistamines all year round now, I’ve been treated for nearly 40 years and have noticed a shift in the seasons in the last decade with milder winters

I also use a red light therapy intra nasally which helps reduce inflammation

I react to every pollen, mould, tree, weed and dust mites, bizarrely I don’t react to the one classic linked to hay fever, grass! I even have differing reactions and only some set my eyes off

having worked and talked with some excellent ENT drs over the years and allergy specialists I know this is quite normal for someone with autoimmune problems like myself
