AIBU to ask a stupid question about this fox cub?

So around 6pm every night for about a week/10 days, a fox cub has come to our back door and tapped. I believe there are foxes living somewhere over one of the back fences that are in our neighbourhood.

Why? What does he want? Food? Is he intrigued by our dog? We never feed him, we shoo him away. Although I have to say, he has the most gorgeous little face...

We have foxes visiting (and being fed!) every night. They frequently peer in the windows to see what we are doing. Last week I saw some paw prints on the patio door and assumed our cats had been doing something. Didn't clean them though.

This morning, I found more paw prints and realised they are on the outside so it's the foxes scrabbling on the door, possibly trying to attract the attention of the cats since they are often timidly curious about them in the garden.

Our foxes have never tried to get into the house, in spite of the patio door being open all day, most days, when it is warmer. They won't come to feed in the evening till we have closed it.
