Contact with covid positive

My childcare source has taken relatives for covid testing. They have tested positive but childcare source has not. Apparently neither have seen each other prior to meeting to do testing. AIBU to think my kids should not go to the childcare source this week? She has said she will get tested and if negative it's okay but is it not true that it can take up to 10-14 days hence the self isolation so testing negative a few days after contact may still mean you still have the virus?

Do these relatives live with her? If so, they should all be isolating. Or did she just drive them to the test centre? Tbh it’s likely to have been more than 15 minutes and less than 2m distancing, so I think she should probably be isolating in that case anyway. Pretty silly of her to offer to take them really, assuming her income will disappear if she has to close for 2 weeks (unless it’s a relative doing it unpaid?)

No they don't live with her. They all went to a drive in test centre and waited on results with them I assume an hour or so apparently. I've been told they all wore masks and tried to socially distance but I don't think it's a risk I can take.

She should be self-isolating as a close contact if she was in a car with them.

HollyGoLoudly1 · 28/11/2020 20:50

My understanding is she should be self isolating for 14 days.

Smurf123 · 28/11/2020 20:52

She should definitely be isolating for 14 days regardless of a negative test as it's not accurate for those 14 days. She spent more than 15 mins within 2 meters of a covid positive person.

opinionatedfreak · 28/11/2020 21:08

She was an idiot to have taken them in her car.

Government guidance is that as a close contact she needs to self isolate for 14 days.

If she gets a negative test she still needs to do the isolation.

Darkstar4855 · 28/11/2020 21:12

She needs to isolate regardless of any test result. She shouldn’t be going out to get tested unless she has symptoms.
