To call GP/111

DD1 has just woken up from her nap. I noticed she had a bit of a rash on the side of her face, went to change nappy and she's got this rash on her trunk, front and back. I tested positive for covid last Tuesday. DD6 and DH have tested negative. We didn't test DD1 because to do it as accurately as they want is impossible. Especially the throat swab. As much as I can tell (because she runs away) the rash does go under a glass. It has faded ever so slightly since been up but it's still there.

She had a temperature for all of 5 minutes on Monday, bit off Tuesday and Wednesday... Better yesterday... Normal self today. She's been a bit off her food for the last couple of weeks, but have put this down to her getting a bit fussy. She's drinking and sleeping well. No further temperatures (been checking in the hour, every hour).

Arms, hands, legs and feet are fine.

I suffer massive health anxiety. Especially now, and especially with the DD's and I want to call 111. DH has been telling me to calm down and we will keep an eye on her and if in herself goes down hill, then call.

I want to call now!

AIBU to call now - yes
YABU do what DH says - no

If you’re worried about your child, call 111... don’t hang around asking strangers on the internet.

MrsTwitcher · 27/11/2020 14:05

Yes call. It will put your mind at rest.

borageforager · 27/11/2020 14:06

If you're concerned, call 111.

Although I think if you report a temperature in a child in a household with a Covid positive person, they will want you to do a Covid test on her.

PolarBearStrength · 27/11/2020 14:06

Does she go to nursery? It sounds like it could be a generic viral rash to me. Even if it is covid related, you aren’t going to change what you do with her really are you? If she’s otherwise well, I wouldn’t panic.

CorianderQueen · 27/11/2020 14:06

I mean calling 111 isn't like going to A&E it's not a big deal. If you're concerned then call them, that's what they're there for.

MrsWarleggan · 27/11/2020 14:08

@PolarBearStrength

No, she does got a childminder but not for the past 2 weeks due to isolating 🙄

I'd call 111 but I've seen a few people say covid can cause a rash in children. It's a viral illness after all.

You don't need to swab children's throats

MrsWarleggan · 27/11/2020 14:11

@whataballbag

Really? We had to test back in July and was told we had to do throat....hence not wanting to do it again.

You're worried about your child's health, so yes, you should call 111.

Just to put it out there, please don't come back and say that you called and they did nothing. The reason you're getting such blunt answers is because that's where these threads are often headed, and nobody is really interested in hearing tales of woe about how bad 111 is. They do their best.

JuanNil · 27/11/2020 14:12

And if you're specifically worried about it being Covid I think the number is 119

whataballbag · 27/11/2020 14:20

@MrsWarleggan yeah we've been through a few tests unfortunately, the staff at the test site (and I'm pretty sure the manual) said for young kids just nose will suffice

MrsWarleggan · 27/11/2020 14:23

@whataballbag

Thanks for this 😊
