To only use the toilet when desperate

I don’t see the point of stopping what I’m doing to use the loo when it’s only a mild urge. I often just wait till I really need to go. Friends always remark that’s it’s odd but I just don’t see the point in using the loo unless I really need to.

To be fair I think I've caused my own weak bladder by always using the toilet before I go anywhere or do anything . I panic I'm going to get caught short so use it when it's there whether I need or not .

I don't think most people do, well not really given it much thought! Only time I would go proactively is if I'm going out for a while

I follow a pelvic floor physio on TikTok and she says that by going too often (ie a just in case wee all the time) you actually end up training your bladder to become weaker.

I’m definitely guilty of this and have been trying to hold on for longer. I’ll often need a wee very soon after I’ve just been and feel like I’m desperate when actually it’s the tiniest of wees

@Sirzy sometimes I talk to my friends about my ibs. If true friends, they will listen and understand.

Op. Can you remember when this started?
I would try going, when you need too.
if you don't flush it out, when you have too, you could possibly get a uti.

I speak from experience, as I used to hold on in the night and started getting uti's

Try to see it as a positive thing: you're training your pelvic floor muscles and being more environmental concious!

Yes I always thought it was better for the body.

Yes, I always go to the toilet when I can because when I was a teenager I used to hold it for too long and I would end up biting my lip in desperation and quivering with tears in my eyes before having a massive accident. The pee would gush through my navy blue knickers and run down my legs, sometimes soaking my skirt....

OK none of that happened but I fear that a story like the one above might be what OP is fishing for.

Be warned, “here be pervs fishing for stories on poo, pee, periods and sexually active teenage daughters!”
