Something 'useful'.

I'm stuck for ideas!

These ideas are all fab ones Grin Thank you! I hope this is giving others some ideas too.

I'm not going to poo poo any of them because they are all good.

Just bought a new kettle otherwise that would have been it actually.

The 'both of you' bit is what's stumping me. I love throws and cushions ect but this prezzie is from MIL and i know she'd feel that DH wouldn't give a shiney shite about that sort of stuff (correctly Grin)

Premier Inn ... yes. We had to cancel a night in a premier inn booked for the both of us last week as a joint present to each other (our birthdays are both Nov). Last year November was horrendous due to a near death family crisis and we did nothing for our b'days. This year? Bloody 2nd lockdown! Hmm

Pillows is a good one.

I like a duck down pillow and ours are embarrassingly old Blush

Blue tooth speaker; we have one but would be really good to have one for upstairs and downstairs as we use it so much

Dishwashersaurous · 27/11/2020 09:06

A very large saucepan

Dishwashersaurous · 27/11/2020 09:07

Towels

New kettle

laudemio · 27/11/2020 09:07

An electric whisk
Soup maker

Dishwashersaurous · 27/11/2020 09:08

An alexa

zigaziga · 27/11/2020 09:09

Contribution towards a meal out probably, or a few nice bottles of wine for some evenings in.

inappropriateraspberry · 27/11/2020 09:09

Some luxury food and drink? Your favourite foods and some bubbly would be a nice thing to enjoy together.
Personally, a night in a Premier Inn alone would be a better gift! The idea of a long bath and a lie in is heaven.

I want an Alexa actually! Nearly asked for one last year for my present but we were too busy/traumatised by events to look into it.

Would £50 cover it?

OP posts:
flaviaritt · 27/11/2020 09:16

Kettle, toaster, spice rack, new towels, rake?

inappropriateraspberry · 27/11/2020 09:18

There are new versions of the Echo out now. Should be in the price range. Especially for Black Friday at the mo!
Do you both read? A new kindle or set of books?

BarbaraofSeville · 27/11/2020 09:20

Lots of Black Friday deals on Alexas now.

I'd be in the 'meal out' camp. DM usually gives us about that amount for Christmas, along with chocolate and we always spend it on a meal out. However, we're in tier 3, so that's unlikely to happen this year. We could have takeaway a couple of times though.

Otherwise we'd probably buy a nice bottle of gin for me, and a bottle of spiced rum for DP.

MIL usually gets us something like an M&S voucher, which we use to buy party food and booze for NYE.

Laiste · 27/11/2020 09:20

Ooh oooh - £28!

I know nothing about this! What would we need to buy along with this? What's a TV stick? Help!

You wouldn’t “need” to buy anything else to use an Alexa. However, you might want to consider a smart bulb, or plug, and/or a music subscription.

Laiste · 27/11/2020 09:28

Right. Do i need an LED display? Grin

Smart plug for £12. That seems good.

Laiste · 27/11/2020 09:29

Gotta go out. Will research this further when i get back.

BIG thank you for all these replies :)

You don’t need anything else for an Alexa. Just plug in and start setting timers and ask her if it’s going to rain

Imtoooldforallthis · 27/11/2020 09:56

I've got an alexa show 5 £39.99 at the moment.

SlothWithACloth · 27/11/2020 10:22

Get the alexa show. It’s very good. You can watch Prime video on it.
You need a prime membership though.
Can hook it up to smart doorbells too.
