Staying with family for childcare in tier 3

Are overnight stays allowed for childcare?
I'm due to start working from home. I can't look after my baby while working and I don't have support locally or the money to hire a nanny.
Would I be allowed to move in with family over 100miles so they can look after baby while I work from their home?
We would both be in tier 3 areas.
WIBU for me to go? I can't see any other option

If it’s a permanent move then it’s fine.

Likely until restrictions relaxed

What would you be doing if it weren’t for Covid?

Racoonworld · 26/11/2020 16:49

You can form a childcare bubble but not socialise with the adults, so don’t think you can have an overnight stay for it.

BigMomma164 · 26/11/2020 17:07

It's because there are some important upcoming work deadlines that will require more work than usual so I need support.
Pre covid I would have gone and stayed with family or had someone stay with me.
The guidelines appear to exempt overnight stays for work purposes but I still feel uneasy

I would if you're not going back and forth, you're moving in and therefore becoming part of their household for a reasonable amount of time? (At the end of the day, no one is going to come and arrest you and force you to return - just do it if you have no other sensible alternatives).

BigMomma164 · 26/11/2020 17:17

@KatieKat88
Thanks. I just don't like the feeling that I MIGHT be doing something wrong, even though it appears to be in line with guidance. It's all just too vague! Confused

If you're moving in for a few months then I'm sure it's within the rules - you're becoming part of that household.

No idea about now but in lockdown 1 my DSis moved in with us. It wasn't permanent as she's gone home now but moved in for 3 months or so. She lived alone and was furloughed so she came and moved into our house so she wasn't alone.
