Inspired by a TikTok trend (humour me I'm
in hospital with no visitors for the foreseeable and it's really boring/ hard)

Mine are;
Shaving foam will help get rid of sticky poop if it's everywhere

The heart will beat alone in a bowl for about 10 mins after being removed from the body.. that's creepy to watch

You can live without a pulse for many years, we now have devices and pumps that take over the function of the heart so the patient has no pulse but as long as their battery is fully charged they can live for many years, i met a patient the other day who had had their Left Ventricular Assisted Device for 11 years!

disclaimer I'm a nurse but give me your random facts / snippets of knowledge, you don't have to say what you do

@yelyah22

P.S. whenever I heard about LVADs (not often, granted), I just think about Grey's Anatomy 😂

I can probably find you a song about anything. And if I can’t, I can write you one. It’s a more useful skill than you might imagine...

I’m an ex music teacher, now running preschool music classes.

I can strip down and reassemble several different types of weapons. I can do this for a Glock 17 blindfolded. And I can shoot several kinds of weapons also.

TheBumbleNums · 26/11/2020 10:07

And yet when you look at me I’m a total girly girl. No one would have a clue Grin

I know how medicines get licensed in Switzerland (and the Eu and other places but I ended up with a very deep knowledge of Swiss procedures almost accidentally).

Despite what the Daily Fail will tell you, very few people on benefits are living the high life and have fancy TVs/Sky/expensive cars etc. And those that do are probably ££££ in debt because it was all bought on finance or credit cards.

I can tell you the most likely combination of pigments, aluminium and mica, that make up any car colour.

lazylinguist · 26/11/2020 11:16

I teach foreign languages, but I know a lot of grammar stuff that most English speakers don't know about English. That's not very exciting compared with Rasputin's penis though. Grin
@yelyah22 I though the lvad in greys anatomy was fiction until I started here Blush also since we're talking random shit we've seen on greys anatomy that's real.. I saw a heart in a box last week and was so excited to tell DH because we're rewatching greys! Didn't ask it anything though .. Grin
When my littlest was having surgery in the summer the surgeon asked me if I had a medical background, as I asked what he considered to be the ‘right’ questions and I was very calm.

My answer, no I just watch a lot of Gray’s Anatomy and House Grin
@FredtheFerret why is it kept in a jar??
I have no idea! Some sort of museum exhibit. A bit like a pickled brain, I imagine.

I also trained Kali 4x a week for a decade (and a bit of western boxing, Thai boxing, and krav maga at various points). I can use most objects as a weapon, which is the point of Kali as it uses the same basic principles regardless of the object (unlike other arts which are very weapon specific). I've done a lot of full contact sparring padded up with helmets etc so am pretty handy, and can still deadlift a little over 200kg.

Not a specific job skill but I always trained martial arts as some of my previous jobs had a high chance of being assaulted.
