Hi Mums,

Apologies for the long post.

9 weeks ago we were instructed by our housing association that we need a annual electrical check ( after 5 years of living here)
Somebody came the following week and said that due to us having two fuse boards he would have to have someone combine the two on to one.

Someone came , spent 13 hours fixing the fuse board and left around 10pm.
The next day we woke up to no hot water and no heating. We notified our housing association but between 15-20 people came in and out of our home. Some saying they were unable to fix it , some didn't have the time and others saying they were given the wrong parts for the job meaning we were left without either hot water or heating for 7 weeks.

During the end of our time without hot water and heating and the last two weeks since we have had hot water we have horrific damp, mold and condensation,

Over our beds, in the bathroom , living room. We had to throw away our sofa because of the smell of damp.

Now we have been chasing up our housing association and they keep sending people round to evaluate but won't answer our phone calls or call us back .

We have been told by two different people that this is due to no ventilation when we had no heating and there isn't a roofing problem.

We have a 2 year old a 7 month old and I am 4 months pregnant.

Any advice ??

Sorry for the rambling , have tried to include as much as possible

That is horrendous! Don't have any advice, unfortunately, but wanted to say I'm really sorry you've had to put up with that. I hope your MP / Shelter / Citizens Advice can help you ASAP. X

Make a formal written complaint to Housing association. This will put them on the clock as it were and they have to respond within a set time.
You will likely have to involve the ombudsman which I would be inclined to do anyway given the way they have messed you around.

None of this helps in the short term. Shelter will give you the correct legal info.
Make sure they get held to account! No one should have to put up with that.

You should contact Environmental Health first thing tomorrow. If they think your home is a serious hazard they can take action against the landlords. It's particularly serious if children are involved. It doesn't take much Googling to find out how to deal with this.

That’s horrendous! The HA have a duty of care, and they shouldn’t have left you 7 weeks without heating or hot water! Shock
I’m not in HA property but I’m in a council property so very similar, and if my heating and hot water goes they can usually come out to sort it the same day as an emergency appointment! The most they’d make me wait if they had to is about a day or two. Not fucking 7 weeks.
The fact that it’s led you having mould and to that extent is absolutely disgusting.
They should be coming out getting rid of it and then improving their services going forwards. I’d be putting in a formal complaint and laying it on thick to them that they are compromising the health of me and my family.
This is a stunt that some private landlords would pull because all they’re bothered is about is getting their money, but you just wouldn’t expect it from a housing association at all.

Ok the mold clean with bleach also thats not 7 weeks worth of mold sorry I have been dealing with its for 8 years if you clean it when it starts would not have got that bad, ours never get that bed because we clean it normally monthly but you will need to keep your windows open a small amount 24 7
