I'm feeling a bit paranoid

I live in a very rural area, single track lane, a mile to nearest neighbour etc.

I have a dog who I walk offlead. I carry a lead in case a car comes. He always goes onto grass verge if a car comes and waits till it passed.
A few times he has gone off to explore.
Somebody local took photos of him and posted him on Facebook and now various people I know have commented on the 'poor thing'
My nearest neighbour posted my address on Facebook saying that's where he's from.
I feel paranoid now, I feel she shouldn't have put my address out
.AIBU?

I wouldn't feel safe having my dog off-lead near or on a road. No matter how savvy he is, all it takes is one time for him to not hear the car or fail to move out of its way. I'm not surprised neighbours disapprove, especially if they think they've seen him out entirely on his own.

My dog was perfectly fine off lead where ever, the neighbours are wrong that he's out on his own, he isn't.

I agree OP you need to be firmer, stating

  1. Dog is not alone
  2. Get your address of FB now and never post it again
  3. Dog is perfectly fine, but if anyone doesn't believe it, do DM you directly or meet to discuss. Perhaps they'd like to join you in a walk to see the whole situation?

They won't have the balls for face to face, it's easy being a keyboard warrior.

Tell her to remove your address immediately. FFS, proactive in this

Dang, thats really awful of your neighbour. I'd report her to be honest, God knows who could show up at your property.

Welcome to the world of social media and some characters getting a kick of shaming strangers.

Saying that, we had a guy posting on our dog breed group telling us about how he had always gone running with his dog by his side off lead, no issues for years always stopped at crossings but this time, he didn't for a reason he couldn't define and he witnessed his dog being hit and dying in front of his eyes. It makes you think.

Your neighbour shouldn't have posted your address on social media.

But it does seem worrying that your dog could be so far away off roaming somewhere that you didn't even notice people taking photos of him. Where were you when this was happening? I think if you weren't in sight, that does indicate a dog that is not in control and they have a right to be concerned. How could you recall him if you can't even see him and he's off somewhere with other people taking his photo? There could be livestock or someone driving their car like an idiot and you would have no way to react to keep him (or animals or other people) safe.
